Hallo everyone! Sorry for being quiet for such a long time, but now I have a great story to tell. Well, we have been in Israel for 22 days, and how amazing it has been. Before I tell you about the challenge, I want to tell you (in short) about our time in Israel.
We began by splitting the North team. The Silver team worked at a YWAM base in Bethlehem. The lime girls together with two of the blue team girls, helped at a school in Jerusalem. The rest of the lime and blue teams worked at a convent in Bethlehem. They did very hard labour.
I helped at the school. We made boards were the children can put their work on. It was great to see how the children react towards it; we could see the pride they immediately got for their classrooms.
On the 26 March we travelled to Nasareth. There we did presentations of the work we studied.
Silver – Assyrian
Lime – Babalony (Babylonia)
Blue – Persian Empire
I enjoyed Nasareth so much! It opened my eyes to be were Jesus grew up. We also visited the Nasareth village. This was WOW!!
Then on the 29 March we got our challenge. Yippee!! Now this was a fun one. It started very early the morning, some were still busy packing. We had to:
- eat a grapefruit (pomelo) and take a photo of the guy we bought it from.
- get transport from Nasareth to Tıberıas. We were lucky and got taxis.
- meet someone we know in front of the Holiday Inn. There we got papers and papers of things we had to do.
- pitch 2 tents. Put our big bags in them and pack our day bags with everything needed for a night’s sleep.
- meet a priest at the St Peters church and spend some time with him. We also had to learn a blessing in Hebrew from him.
- at the sea of Galilee we had to answer some questions according to the Bible.
- go to a natural amphitheatre and speak blessings into each others lives.
- vısıt a kıutz and find some answers about the kıbutz from someone that works there.
- vısıt capernahım. There we had to do a short show about Matthew 19:13-15. We had to take some photos of things in scripture and we had to do a teaching on a scripture as Jesus would have done. Then we as blue team was blessed because we got a lift in a BIG bus full of Indoıesıese (Indonesian)? people. They also blessed us with food.
- spent a night on the shore of the sea of Galilee.
- the next day we went to Kursıe because we had to climb a hill and answer some more questions on scriptures.
- do a sequenced dance in the water (by the way, it was not only freezing but had a lot of unstable rocks).
- take photos of a man that walks on water.
- One thing I forgot to mention, we had to finish a kilogram of Olives through the challenge.
- we also had to catch a fish and prepare it on a fire and eat it. Now this was a miracle. It was the only thing we shorted. Chris and Marcel went down to the sea and Chris gave two big scoopes of water towards the shore and there was our fish. It was this big ( ), but we had one. We finished 2nd and we had an amazing time and experience and we was blessed a lot!
After the challenge we spent 2 more nights at the sea of Galilee and then we went to Akko. There we spent another 2 nights and then we travelled to Tala viv where we applied for Mexico visas. Then we travelled back to Jerusalem, and then back to Egypt.
I had a great time and an amazing experience and I hope you had one reading this blog. Have a wonderful day and night.
Lots of love
Anelda
