"You've changed."
One sentence that people either yearn to hear, or dread to accept.
As people our tendency is, it seems, to fear change. One will always claim to be 'embracing' change but the reality is actually that their inner being is still trying to defend and hold on to whatever it is has that has supposedly 'changed'.
I mean we're perfect right? Why would we need or want to change?
Most believers will tell you how God changed their heart. Myself included. I'm talking about a complete transformation, a revolution of the highest caliber.
Pride shattering, character building, grace driven, beautiful change.
You see the past 8 months have been like a metamorphosis phase. I started out the year as a caterpillar, the hairy kind that stings and can be painful to humans if touched.
This journey has been my 'cocoon'. Inside this cocoon I've undergone processes that have changed me, transformed me and moulded me into the image that He intended.
The result of this, a butterfly. A big winged, colorful, gentle, handcrafted butterfly. The kind of beautiful that only God can be held responsible for.
To say that when we love and are loved by Jesus causes change is an understatement.
We are not just changed. We are transformed. Transformed from a prickly caterpillar to a graceful butterfly.
A complete transformation in form. A complete transformation in function. A complete transformation in nature.
To The Creator, thank you for breaking me not to leave me broken, but to remake me to function even better.
"You've changed."
No, I have not. I have transformed.
