Blog 1 of many to come...

Dum dum dum..
The first blog.
Wow I truly can't believe that I haven't even been in Jbay for a month. It feels so much longer!Arriving at the Jbay caravan park staring at what felt like a million new faces I asked God what on earth He was making me do..But you know God,everything is planned before hand and within a few days it felt like I'd known everyone for weeks. The first few days we were left to get to know each other and listen to the stories of the old challengers.Inspiring and awsome stuff. On day 5 we got up,packed our backpacks and walked to the ucsa campsite in town. Many of us decided to lighten our loads after that short walk.

The next week was spent at ucsa doing training and bible studies. We also had work some work duty where we helped prepare GLA (the highschool started by Global Challenge) for the coming school year.We painted, planted poles, varnished ect...Nothing like a day of good old physical labour.;-)
For the weekend the Explore Africa team spent some time on a farm just outside Jbay sharing our stories.God opened my eyes again to the perfect wonder of his plans and I was gratefull for the team that He had put together. With every weakness someone else had a strength to complement it.I am so expectant of what the Lord will do this year,I'm bustling with excitment as I write this blog.I realised again that however painful and frightning it is to bare your soul, trust results in blessing.I know God will ask me to give more this year than I ever have before and I feel exited as well as terrified.

Wednesday of week 3 we left for "the bush".Upon arriving we were told to get 6 items from our backpacks for the following 3 days. Our teams were then left in the bush and told to build a shelter. We had to compete in challenges to earn our food with some teams receiving only a small bag of coffee for a meal. The rainy weather contributed to the feeling of survival. Its amazing how people bond when suffering together. We ended our epic survival struggle(giggle giggle) with a warm shower at the campsite. The next day the students of GLA arrived for a camp which we facilitated.God worked in the lives of these kids as well as ours, trusting Him for their trust.I was humbled and realised how impotant it is to grasp every situation to serve,to be attentive to the promting of God's Spirit. The kingdom can't be built without relying on The King.

We are now back in JBay and planning for a mission trip to transky where we will be building a playground for the primary school in Coffee bay for which we are trusting the Lord for funds.
Looking forward to finding out what God has planned...
