Learning that God provides in everything is definitely a process. One of the best ways to experience God's provision is to give God a chance to provide. Putting yourself in a position where you can’t do anything about your circumstance prepares the way for God to show a little bit of His amazing glory.
We arrived in Canada after an awesome challenge from Panajachel to Cancun. There we met up with a friend of ours and once again God started to bless us! We received shelter and 3 big meals a day, coming from the hosting family or even from the Sikh temple we wanted to evangelize. After staying there for a week we left our ‘comfort zone’ to go out into the freezing cold world. Not knowing where we would eat our next meal or even where we would be sleeping come nightfall.
We started at Stayner and God immediately started to bless us; within a couple of hours we were well on our way and got dropped off just past Parry Sound. Late afternoon we decided to call it a day and pitched our tents (Not made for cold weather) at the side of the road. We dressed up for the night, myself putting on 6 layers of shirts, 3 different pants and 3 pairs of socks, within our sleeping bags (also not for cold weather, starting at 5◦C and up). We felt that we nearly died that night because of how cold it got! Our one teammate got up early and not only found his tent partly frozen, but also snow within his tent!
While spending time with the Lord the next morning, confused because I couldn’t understand why God would let us endure such a night, he blessed me again; this time with a revelation about that night. With the ice cold, extremely bad conditions representing the world we live in and a nice warm home with hot water and a fireplace, representing God. How many people blindly chose to stay out in the terrible cold when God is inviting you into His warm Home? Why do we still choose to want to be out in the cold? God loves us so much and He wants us to join Him, it’s up to us to decide whether or not to accept or decline the invitation.
After being stranded at that spot for about 18 hours we decided enough is enough and prayed together for a lift and lunch. Not 3 minutes later a car picked us up and bought us lunch… We thought that was a testimony of how God provided, wait till you hear what we heard later that day: The previous day one guy in our team prayed for a woman to pick us up in a blue car, buy us lunch and provide us with dinner and breakfast (shelter included). Not only was it a woman in a blue car giving us a ride and providing us with food. She also invited us to stay with her and her family for the whole weekend! It doesn’t stop there though, the destination was a couple of hours drive off our route and we then had a problem of getting back on track, then we heard - Her brother who joined us later that day serves in the military and could drive us most of our journey to where he is stationed. He ended up driving us the whole way! God is good.
That weekend God blessed us so much. They gave us the best possible experience of Canada, for that amount of time. We got to give Truth to them in our discussions and we got to live out Christ in us.
We even spent 2 nights in the military base! How wonderful is God!
In that week God taught me more about provision than what I would have been able to learn myself over a few years! All it took was trusting in God, because God cannot disappoint.
