There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers…

It’s a warm and sunny Sunday morning as Bernard and Freddy embark on a journey where the living God became even truer in our lives. A journey which will be part of our lives forever. Before we went on our Luke 10 journey, God gave me a promise in 1 Kings 17:14 which says:” For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: There will always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time  when the Lord sends rain and the crops grow again!”

This passage told me that God will provide and that there will always be food to eat and a place to sleep. So we went on this journey with only our Bibles, the clothes we were wearing, a promise from God and our faith in Him. We started walking from the hotel we stayed at and immediately we were looking for the highway. After a 6km walk we found a garage where we could have a look at a map to look where we must go. We wanted to see the ocean and a town called Songkhla was the place we saw and off we went. After we had a looked at the map we started walking on the highway to look for a lift and immediately a truck pulled over and took us all the way to Songkhla. The truck driver dropped us just before Songkhla and we started walking towards the town and we were only looking for the ocean for a swim and we asked locals the way to the beach and they just said go straight.

Eventually we got a lift from a young guy and he took us to the main beach and he also blessed us with water to drink, what a blessing that was. Immediately myself and Bernard went for a swim in the ocean to cool down because of the high temperatures in Thailand and to our surprise the ocean was also as warm as the outside temperatures. I think it was so warm we sweat in the water. Still it was a blessing just to swim and to have a nice team before looking for our man of peace. At about 2 o’ clock in the afternoon we got out of the ocean and then we said we are just going to sleep for a while on the beach and at 6 o’ clock the evening we woke up, rested out and then we started looking for a church where we can help out or where we can stay for the time of our Luke 10 journey.

We stopped and prayed and asked God to lead us and to send people on our path who can help us and after we prayed we asked the taxi drivers if they know if there is any church in the area and they didn’t understood us and we showed our Bibles to them but they still didn’t understood. Eventually the one driver understood that we are looking for a church. Then he drivers  he know of a church he can take us, but we didn’t had any money so we asked him to just tell us where it is and he said there are too many turns we must take to get there so it will be difficult to explain. We accepted it and started walking, hoping that we will find this church. As we were walking a car stopped next to us and it was the taxi driver again and he said jump in I will take you there and we told him we don’t have money and he said I will take you for free. I praised God and said thank you for this blessing. We arrived at Songkhla curch and it was the beginning of a week with many more blessings to come. As we walked into the church we immediately met the pastor of the church and his wife and we told them that we are on a Luke 10 journey and we have nothing with us and then they invited us into the church and gave us each a plate of food and water to drink. I just looked at Bernard at started smiling. To be honest that plate of food also changed my life (It was a bit spicy).  Then they went and bought us some more food and blessing after blessing started to come our way. We also met 2 young ladies and a young gentlemen all of them from Europe. Their names were Naomi from England, Ellen from Sweden and Ola from Sweden and they were also a big blessing in our lives and we made friendships that will last forever. Although I reminded Naomi EVERYDAY that we won them in the World cup rugby final.

Bernard then asked the pastor if we can live with them and he said yes they have a house which they use for camps and sport activities and it is called  New Vision Centre and he told us that we can stay there. I didn’t know what to do or say, I could only say thank you to the Lord for providing for us. The house was as big as the White House in Washington, which the President lives in. It had about 8 living rooms 4 showers and a few toilets with a kitchen, a TV room, an office and a classroom to teach and in the backyard there was a big football field. Our containers were overflowing with the blessings from God.

Myself and Bernard helped out at the church in our time in Songkhla and we also helped at the centre, coaching the football players along with Ola. What a great experience that was. We also helped at out the centre and we cleaned up the back yard, picking up some leaves and we also cut the grass so that the kids can play football. Throughout the whole week we always had food to eat and they also blessed us with toothbrushes and extra clothes to wear. Jesus Christ is alive and I can testify because these blessings only came from Him.

On our last day in Songkhla on Sunday the 15th of April we shared a bit in the first service about what we do and how we ended up at Songkhla church and it was so amazing. The people made us feel at home and they were so kind to us. Then they asked us if we can do the 2nd service after lunch and we just said yes and we had one hour to prepare our preach and we talked about evangelism and why we are called to do it. It was an amazing time and we shared out of the Word of God and we shared some personal testimonies to the congregation. We also prayed for the whole church individually and we trust God to do big things in their lives. The pastor at the church also blessed me and Bernard each with 1000 Baht and 50 Australian dollars seeing that our next country is Australia. We stood amazed and we just praised God and in the first service we were greeting the people and a gentlemen shook my hand and he stuck 500 Baht into my hand. It seemed like we were dreaming and it felt like this can’t be happening, but yet it did and God blessed us in abundance just like the promise He gives in John 10:10:”The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to GIVE them a rich and satisfying life.”

Our containers were overflowing like a river overflows after a big rain storm. To God we give all the glory and again we want to thank all the people from Songkhla church who blessed us and took care of us. We want to thank Ola, Ellen and Naomi for enriching our lives and you will forever be remembered and also The Pastor and his wife and Peter and his wife, thank you for your contribution. We pray that God will bless you abundantly and that you will experience him more and more.

And to you who are reading this blog, may you see that there is a living God and may you see that He is all we got and that He will ALWAYS come through for you and He will ALWAYS provide. May you serve Him and tell people about Him and may YOU be blessed in the Name of Jesus Christ.
