5 Tasks; 7 days; 56 hours; 18 students and no money…
Impossible? Impossible is nothing when God is at work! This is exactly what Annemarie Franken, the head of Global Challenge Expeditions, thought when she got word from God to start the first high school in Jeffreys Bay. Since that day in 2009 her obedience in pursuing this dream was followed by an abundance of blessings. The school was up and running by the beginning of 2010, but then came the second calling from God: build a school campus on faith, starting with no money. (If you want to read up on more background information and blessings already received, as well as the process of the project, please feel free to go to gla-jbay.org for more information)
This is where we come in. The project leaders of this new school building has called us as Global students, to complete the following tasks in 7 days, 56 hours and no time to spare. We want you to be part of this process, these are our tasks and below you can read how you can help and contribute to our challenge as well as the bigger vision of the school.
Task 1: Building the front stone walls that was designed,
through stacking and cutting stones.
Task 2: To Level and fill the road with sand we still need and create a pedestrian walk way through packing stones, putting sand on it and compacting it.
Task 3: Dig a trench for a pipe line and buy a pipe to fill it.
Task 4: Mixing cement and preparing the school walls to plaster it.
Task 5: Cleaning the campsite so it’s presentable for visitors and conferences.
