Happiness

Last night I fell asleep with a smile on my face. One of those incredibly cheesy grins you can’t wipe even if you should try. As I tumbled into dreamland I was reminded of that day Reynard and I had in China and how happy I went to bed that then. I realised that the warm fussy feeling called “happiness” is something I became familiar with over the past 9months.

Previously, while I was living “the life” I usually went to bed pondering what could’ve made the day better. My night time “one day” fantasies usually included the perfect man who’d come rescue me, stepping into the perfect job, having more perfect friends, a wardrobe to die for and an extensive shoe with matching handbag collection. Occasionally these moments would be spent with one foot on the floor, stabilising the room. My search for “perfect happiness” seemed to be a never-ending story.

Last night as we laid under a symphony of stars, with the waves of the Red Sea gently stroking the shoreline I experienced one of those “moments”. A passing moment engraved in your mind forever. It’s these “perfect moments” that makes everyday struggle worth it! Moments like these are a reminder of God’s incredible grace! I realised that this is it! This is happiness, now! Not one day or when I, but happiness is only God away.  And though “perfect” is reserved for Heaven, God gives us little sneak previews every once in a while.

While I did a dive and swam in awe of God’s incredible creation I couldn’t help but try and imagine how amazing Heaven’s going to be. I noticed all the colours under water, all the fine lines and interesting spots on the different fish and had to wonder how much more God has stored up in Heaven! And until then we don’t need anything to ease the pain, we have God, we have a friend, a lover, a saviour, we have GOD! What more do we want???

It sounds so simple...
