Our Story

As I sit down at the computer I’m munching on a delicious Thai snack. I’m not quite sure what it is, but it’s deep fried and sugar coated which makes it divine! I’m motivated to dedicate this piece to Thai food… Though, that would compel me to write blogs dedicated to Thai people, Thai beaches, Thai culture, Thai markets, basically anything Thai. Yes, I love Thailand and I love everything about it!

n

This however, is not what stood out during my time in Thailand. I’ll always treasure the memory of my first Thai massage, the sweet taste of sticky rice and mango will have me craving more for months, the thought of Little Elvis running up to me every morning will warm my heart forever, but these aren’t the things that made Thailand unforgettable! During the past few weeks I fell in love and there’s no turning back! I truly met The One, probably for the first time ever and I’m head over heels…

This is our story: I’ve always known the Lamb, the same way most of the world does. We enjoy seeing God as politically correct and “on our side”. We believe in the faith, hope and love message, we believe that God is kind and good hearted. This is all true – but what about the Lion? In between pulling out grass, plastering walls and painting roof tiles God came and introduced Himself – as the Lion. I’ve realised that God is powerful, almighty, dangerous even. To fear God is not a popular command – but it’s vital!
"This is the end of the matter. All has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man" (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

We serve an awesome God, yet we limit who He is with our view of Him. We’ve decided that God, is a God of love and therefore He won’t send tsunami’s and cyclones and earth quakes. Have we forgotten that God says "I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." (Revelations 1:8) God sent the flood and wiped everyone, but Noah and his family from the earth. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. God is always the same – why can’t He kill hundreds of thousands of people today?

Yet this amazing God to whom “the greatness and the power and the glory and the
victory and the majesty” ( 1 Chronicles 29:11) belongs, loves ME. He knows ME, He delights in ME! He used the oldest trick in the book and made me fall for Him – real hard I might add. God came and revealed Himself to me little by little, bit by bit. Each time He left me wanting more! He did all the things a lover is supposed to. He danced with me in the rain, He wrote love letters in the sky, He sent flowers and spoilt me rotten with amazing food! Knowing now how great and powerful He is, this means so much more! It’s like your boyfriend not whining when he has to sit through “Dirty Dancing” for the umpteenth time, because he knows you love it – only so much bigger and better!

You know that feeling, when you see your favourite boy walking toward you? Your heart beats so hard that you’re sure everyone around you can see your chest moving up and down or at least hear the thumping sound coming from your direction! This is exactly how I felt when I first realised how much I love God! We were worshipping Him and my heart beat so uncontrollably that I was convinced everyone around me could feel the vibrations! It’s an amazing feeling…  I dare you to experience it! Go fall in love with God – you won’t regret it!
