The kickstart- out of Africa (or not)..

After about 7 weeks of training in Jbay where I was challenged not only spiritually but also physically and emotionally, we started our journey. Ready to step out in the army of God, ready to be obedient to Him, ready to be spiritually led, we arrived in Kenya. Suddenly I didn't feel so ready any more- the practical side seemed more easier said than done. I struggled to understand what my place/role in the team was, doing this for a whole year overwhelmed me a bit and totally out of my comfort zone isn't always an easy place to be at. After about 3 weeks I'm beginning to understand the body of Christ and each member's role much better, I've realized that I learn so much more of myself and God out of my comfort zone and to take it day by day in His strength that will never fail me. Living selflessly in unity in my team is a valuable lesson I learned and God has been teaching me a lot about humility- practically during our time in Kenya and also with some teachings during debrief. Finding my identity in Christ is beginning to change my whole outlook on life.

I know now that this year is an appointment made long ago by God and what a privilege that my job for this year is to seek Jesus.

Kenia and Tanzania- I've experienced a lot op poverty, people in need of hope but also warm-hearted, friendly and hospitable people who would give you a King's feast when they hardly have enough food for themselves. I've met people who earnestly seek and serve God despite the fact that they live in absolute poverty. God has spoken so many promises over Kenia and its people and we could experience this in prayer, through Godly encounters with people and through a foundation based on God which serves the community (in business, ministry, education and farming).

I've seen God move in so many ways during this time- men/ woman of peace always randomly showing up and helping us out, divine appointed lifts, favor with travelling and lodging, providing in food and money, changing people's hearts and lives in an instant, prayer changing spiritual atmospheres. I've also learned to see His face in people, in nature and in beauty all around us- in people serving, loving and worshipping God.

May I continue to walk with Him and work with Him, to watch how He does it. Like He promises: "keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly" (Matt 11: 27-30 msg bible).
