1 Cor. 12:13 – “A body isn’t just a single part blown up into something huge. It’s all the different-but-similar parts arranged and functioning together.” (Msg)
Growing up in a Christian home you hear this teaching a lot: the church is like a body. It has different parts working together. I knew this and experienced it in South Africa, but in Malaysia it came a reality for me. Though the time we spent in Malaysia was difficult I was carried by the church all the way. From my fellow Global Challenge team member to local church members here in Kuala Lumpur.
We met some wonderful people during our time in KL. First we met Pastor Julie, a local Pastor from KL, who spoiled us with two days at the sea, accommodation, food and transportation for the two days. Just by spending time with us and praying with and for us, meant the world to
us. She and a few of her friends (now our friends as well) took care of us like we were part of the body. It was amazing.
Secondly we met a fantastic couple from KL. They attended the church at the school we were helping out. The man comes from South Africa and his wife from Malaysia. We couldn’t believe our ‘luck’. They were a blessing to us, from the start. Inviting us for dinner, for a braai (South African barbeque) at their home, etc. We enjoyed every moment we spent with them.
I can’t thank the Lord enough for sending these people on our path. I will never forget the impact it had on me personally. I hope I can get a chance to the same to another part of the body! I can’t wait.
