I once heard someone say that one should be careful before putting a world map on your wall, because you don’t know where God will take you. What can I say, not only did I not listen…I have three of them! And God’s been taking me all over the world.
Looking at the world map, following the route we’ll be going on during the upcoming 80 days, I found myself bewildered. I am privileged to have visited a few countries, yet compared to the rest of the world, it’s only a few dots. The world is BIG!!! And Jesus commands us to “go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” [Mark 16:15, NIV]. There are so many people who have not yet heard the Good News of salvation, so many who are lost and in need of the Good Shepherd…and He told us to do something about that. It is His will for all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. [1 Tim 2:4] And we have the Truth!
With the journey less than a week away, I’m wondering - what can we do in 80 days? And I’m reminded again about the story of the guy who threw washed-to-shore starfishes back into the water. One by one, not making a big difference in the overall picture, yet making a huge difference to those he threw back… the difference between life and death.
Getting back to my question – what can we do in 80 days? Well, on our own – nothing of eternal value. Through Christ - more than what we ever could dream of. Being led by the Holy Spirit and walking in obedience to His commands, we will be taking the gospel to the nations, being an example in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. And it is my prayer that you would be doing the same wherever He sends you. It might just be the neighbour next door whom you don’t even know or maybe a family member. Be obedient and go! And while you’re at it, please keep us in your prayers. Making requests, interceding and thanking the Father for the team He has chosen, the provisions He has made, the missionaries we will work with and each and every soul that will come to know Him through Jesus Christ.
Our Master is coming, may He find us doing what He has given us charge of [Mat 24:46].
Blessings
