The grass is always greener on the other side but, through this "green" surface the pain, suffering, hunger and confusion of a lost nation...
As you travel through Zimbabwe you are amazed at the natural beauty of the country. The trees are in full bloom and dense green plants and bushes are flourishing everywhere. The country seem healthy after the rainy season, but this sight however is deceiving.
Behind this is a country that is falling apart, people begging for food and shelter and children in ragged clothes selling corn to by passing motorists for an income.
The sadest part is that the people do not know what is happening in their own country. They asked us, "How are things in South Africa?" After replying they asked," And in Zimbabwe?" They are so desperate to learn the truth and the real situation of their country from foreigners. They do not receive any news from the government and if they do, it is corrupt and not true.
One incident that shocked me was an old lady that approached me along the road. She stared into my eyes with desperation and said, "We are suffering, we are suffering" as she points to her mouth with both hands. Behind her, underneath a tree, is all her personal belongings covered in a plastic sheet to protect it from the rain.
She has no hut, no home, no food and nothing to live from.
Something inside me was shaken and I was filled with emotion. What do I say to this woman? No matter what I say to her, there is nothing I can do for her, accept to pray. Our God is the only one that can help this woman and thousands of other families in this same situation. God is the only providerand healer that can save this country from devestation. He owns Zimbabwe and the people, no one else, no president or government. Zimbabwe belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ.
We as the body of Christ have to, no, must pray for Zimbabwe. We have to interceed for this nation and help God rebuild this country of His.
This is our fellow brothers and sisters and it is our duty to support them in any possible way.
We will see Zimbabwe rebuild, we will see people restored and we will see God rule over this beloved country again.
