Kenya: preparing the way

God is doing a new thing in Global Challenge this year by sending teams into the world without Global Challenge staff members as leaders. This sounded very daunting at first, but its actually such an opportunity to build next level faith. Now we can not rely on previous experiences, but have to truly trust Jesus in every choice and situation. It is after all the same Holy Spirit guiding all of us.

At the foot of the Ngong hills, just outside Nairobi we had the opportunity to serve at Harvest School, where 21 Kenyan kids go to school knowing Jesus and with the motto: a Journey of a thousand miles starts with one step.

We sang songs, read from the Bible, did life skills lessons, prayed with the teachers, washed walls and did renovations on the playground. The kids were so easy to love. I realized that children's spiritual maturity cannot be compared to their age and should not be underestimated. While working and fixing things at the school God also reminded me: do everything, even the small things, as doing it for Him and not for people...with diligence and excellence.

We had the privilege of launching a prayer room at Joy, our host's, house, where we got amazing revelations from God through prayer. He showed us how He is busy raising up His army all across the world through prayer rooms in preparation for the end times. Once again the importance of prayer to display God's power on earth was established. God cannot act if we do not pray.

Other lasting Kenyan experiences included an outreach to a children's hospital, attending a Christian business networking meeting and lively African praise and worship at Nairobi Chapel.

We also had our fair share of mangoes, Tangawizi (ginger) tea, ugali (pap), wild Matatu taxi rides with disco lights and pumping music, and an intro to the Lion King language aka Swahili.

We as Hidden World team members are learning to celebrate our diversity, knowing that God hand-picked every one of us for this year. God loves relationships and there is so much power in unity.

The key to this and other golden nuggets (valuable lessons) we took from our time in Africa, is for it to become revelational knowledge...where Jesus cements these truths in our hearts and minds and we are transformed as a result. (Rom12:2)

Khwaheri Kenya!
