I used to think that to expand the Kingdom, I have to reach as many people as possible, but now I know that it is much more effective( and more the Jesus way) to disciple people in such a way that they can disciple faithful people who can disciple others.
Did you know that if a single head of wheat is left to reproduce in the perfect conditions for 7 years, it will feed the entire world population for a whole year?
Is possible for the church to multiply like this head of wheat?
I just don't think Jesus is very impressed by our big buildings that we call church. We are the church. Are we making followers, or just admirers of Jesus?
I heard of this way of planting churches that work on the principle of multiplication, rather than addition.
But this time I was able to be a part of this process. In our 8 days in Uganda, we didn't sleep much. We were planting churches that will multiply into even more churches.
When we got to Uganda and our host said that in his 5 years there, they planted about 527 churches, I almost didn't believe him. But again I stood in awe at how true Mark 10:27 is: "with man it is impossible, but with God anything is possible."
The way this church planting method works, is by asking God to show you who would be a harvester. You connect with that person and tell them that your vision is: "to let Jesus be worshipped by all people" . You disciple them in such a way that they will also be able to disciple others. This multiplication takes place by using a method that is called DBS The-Discovery-Bible-Study-Method-2016
Ghost is one of the guys that our host started to disciple 2 and a half years ago. He was using drugs and drinking every day of his life from the age of 14. He was a rasta with a lot of authority all around Kampala. Our host would go and sit with him and his friends while they smoke marijuana. The first few times he just listened to their stories and bought them food. He never told Ghost to stop smoking or drinking. He just showed them Jesus's love and started to do dbs' with them. Jesus changed Ghost's life. From the groups that he started, more than 80 other groups have taken root. At the end of April he will go with one of the other guys that our host disciple, to the north of Uganda to plant churches among the South Sudanese refugees. This is just one of the many many stories of what God is doing through this DBS groups in Uganda. It just showed me yet again that we don't need to have a lot of knowledge or training. We just need to be obedient to God's call and clay in His hands. He will use us in ways that we could never imagine possible. God commands us to make disciples.
Ps. I'm sorry for you that enjoyed the comfort zone and whose excuse for not discipling others, was the lack of knowledge and experience. Now you don't have any excuse anymore. Enjoy the journey.
