We started out this morning with a great breakfast and some time to discuss our journey this year… And then out of the blue we received our challenge papers!!! But it was a challenge with a twist… ICC (India Compassion Challenge) is a challenge bases on Mat 25: 31- 46 and Job 29: 12- 17.
Sony and I were in a team and I thought we had a leading start. Everything was going good and before we knew it, we were on our final and most important task: Feeding the hungry!
We saw four families living on the street and stopped by them. After asking them what their basic needs was we set of. What an amazing feeling to be in a position to help… all by the grace of God! We were also allowed to use more than our given budget, so we bought rice, lentils, maize and lots of veggies. Very excited to get back to them, we made the decision to first tell them why we are doing this and share the Gospel with them…
My excitement grew immensely while Sony was sharing with them and I felt more alive than in a long time!
But then it happened… a fight broke loose and everyone was grabbing the food and running, people were screaming and arguing. Needless to say my perfect picture of harmony was shattered!!!
After being verbally abused and slapped by one elderly lady, I got into the tuk-tuk very discourage…
Playing back everything that happened, the Lord spoke into my heart: Why did you do it? Was it to get a tank you or to be seen? Immediately I was convicted and had to repent.
“Lord, I’m so sorry for having my own little idyllic picture of the world and how it must work, in my head. Forgive me for judging those people and even waiting to hear a thank you. Give me the strength to do what you ask of me, no matter the outcome or price it may cost. Amen.”
