Malaysia

The passion and intensity of the first generation Christians that we have met will always stay with me.

The trip in Malaysia consisted of two parts: meeting some of the indigenious Malaysian people, and meeting some of the imigrant workers in this country.

Our trip started with a race. We recieved the instructions just minutes before landing in Kuala Lampur. Each group (3 groups of 4 people each) had to get from the airport to the City Centre by some means of transport. With a given budget, the groups had to make a chancing decision on the speed (thereby cost) of this first leg transport since the costs of the rests of the race was not known at that time. At the City Centre, some tasks had to be fulfilled, whereafter we had to take a train to a shopping mall nearby our final destination. There we had to buy dinner with the available money and rent a taxi to our overnight stay. Fun!

Our Malaysian adventure was organised by a South African missionary who left our country about 4 years ago to give his (and his family's) life to build the Kingdom in these Eastern countries.

The first three days was aimed at meeting and strengthening the people of the indigenous tribe of Maylaysia. We had lots of fun in spending time with the children and woman of this tribe. Obviously our translators had to work overtime. In our church meeting, it was evedent that these first generation Christions serve and worship God with an intensity far beyond that which we as "genetic" Christions are used to. It didn't take long for them to draw us closer to this level of passion. Although a large number of the people we've met in the three villages we visited already gave their life to Jesus, some still believe in forefather gods and blackmagic (which some of us encountered). This also means that God reveals himself best here by doing more powerful works through his people than is possible by the wichdoctors (Matt 10:8 is a reality to these people - ALL of it). Our traveling between the villages opened the opportunity to see the enormous forests of Malaysia as well as a number of waterfalls. It shrinked the feeling of being a significant creature, and showed the power and craftmanship of the living God we serve.

The second part of the trip was aimed at the meeting and strengthening of imigrant workers that streames to this country due to its fast development. We met groups of people from Pakistan, Nepal, Manyamar, and India. Agian, since some of these countries are closed to the Gospel, and the rest are mainly of some other religion, these people are also first generation Christions. Intensity and passion is the two words that describe these people's faith in Christ the best. It was therefore quite an experience and a revelation to be part of it.  & nbsp;

Except for one dinner which consequenses turned out horrible for me and two other team members, this was a special visit that drew me much closer to God.

In conclusion: nothing in this world comes close to knowing our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
