Training

The year started with an awesome survival camp in the bush for one week. It was a good but hard experience!

After survivor blessing.

We had a lot of teachings and sermons on how to evangelize. The one and only Work Your Way team got the privilege to build a tire swing for the children at Itemba in J-bay. It was loads of fun and great to invest time and effort in the community.

Then we heard the news that we are going on a 2 week mission in the Transkei. One week in Coffee bay and one week in Canzibe. The first week in Coffee Bay we served Judy with labor by building a fence around a classroom so that the cows would stay away from the classroom; that will also help that the ticks would stay out of the school’s area. When our work was completed we got a free day which we used  to hike to the Hole in the Wall.

After a great time in Coffee bay, we drove off to Canzibe.  There we had the privilege to go out to xhosa families and preach the good news! We also put up a beautiful wooden fence around a swimming pool.

To get back to Jeffery’s bay we had to challenge in our expedition groups. Part of the challenge was to take a chicken with us and we named him Jasper. Now that was a legendary chicken! God provided for us on that journey. We are not allowed to use personal money on challenges and we had little money for the challenge. But God gave us food and cheap transport! That was the first time I drove in a Taxie We slept on the streets that night in J-bay; we were exhausted.

It was an exiting two weeks and we only had two weeks of training left where we received another set of awesome teachings. The last day of training we had an great feast and said good bye to all the other  expedition groups.

And then our journey began...
