Ke Nako

"I wonder what sort of tale we've fallen into?" - J.R.R. Tolkien (The Lord of the Rings)

Now I've never read the books or even watched all of 'The Lord of the Rings' - something I do regret. Nonetheless, like the quote above, I too wonder what kind of life we have stumbled upon these past 7 weeks...

I came across this quote from a book I started reading at the beginning of training - the preparation before journey for Global Challenge. The book is titled 'Epic', by John Eldredge. Looking back I realize how symbolic the book is to the story we have fallen into because it sure is epic, even transcendent.

The chances of being shaped by the people whom you are most surrounded by is a given. And so, being in the same environment as people who are willing to serve is not only humbling, but exciting too. Much teaching and acts of service have been directed our way, challenging our ways of old. This has inspired new perspective, paving the way to a more selfless and heavenly lifestyle. 'What a privilege' it is to have journeyed with everyone who was involved throughout training! - "If it's worth being said, say it forever."

Training has been epic. As for the pilgrimage set before us, Africa is calling, "Ke Nako" - it's time, send me on my way.
