Our journey of faith through Argentina

Our week journey based on Luke 10:

I promised to give you some feed back concerning the Luke 10 journey, so here's our story ! Or should I say, God's accomplishment in our humble willing life !

We left the first day the terminal of Salta where we slept the previous night... The morning, we prayed a last time as a team and then we divided ourself in smaller group... I was in a group with 2 south african friend, Marié and Marli. We heard previously that different people had different strategy, ours was to believe that God is going to guide us and we didn't need to do any plans... So we headed on the road, put our thumbs out and started hitchhiking ! We thought, whenever someone stops and go in the right direction, we would just go to wherever that person would be heading to ! And it worked !

God never leave us, and if we trust him fully he always come through in his timing ! So the first day, we had different lift with always interesting conversation in the car, and we arrived in the middle of the afternoon in a small city called "Gonzales". There, a man saw us in the street and offered us his help ! He went with us to the municipal camping spot and ask if we could stay for free... Surprisingly, the owner accepted ! Later on in the evening, our friend came again and we had an amazing barbecue with him ! It was just overwhelming to see how God provided... We had, as rule to travel without money just trusting God and here He was already providing at the first night with a meal and a safe place were to put our tents !

The second day, we had a lazy morning, not really knowing if we wanted to continue to travel or stay longer with our "men of peace"... And around lunch time, a lady came to us, asked us if we were Christian. We told her our story, and she was super excited ! She invited us to go to church on that evening, invitation that we accepted.
There, all 3 of us had to share our testimony... In spanish, without translation por favor ! We are still not sure if they understood everything, but we want to trust God that he can work in amazing way and even if it looked like if we couldn't even give one correct sentence, we trust god to touch hearts ! And once again, as you can imagine we didn't had food for a diner, but God put on a lady's heart to offer us some of her pastries and meat from her house ! So we came back that evening to our camp and we had late dinner !

(For the rest, I'm going to give less details, otherwise you will take 2 hours to read that letter... But I'm more than willing to tell you more, just contact me if you want more details ! )

Next morning, we left that city... We did only around 60km that day, we arrived the afternoon around 3 in Taco Pozo, and from there no lift until the evening... So we just camped behind a Petrol Station ! The 3rd morning, we came to the road early to hitchhike. There, a group of young people came to us, with beer-bottle in their hand, and they looked like if they were drinking through the night. But God had a plan with them ! They came to us, asked some question and we had the opportunity to pray with 2 of them... Later on, we realized that God made us sleep in that specific place because he wanted us to meet those people the next morning !

After different lift, we arrived in Corrientes, a very big city. We also tried to find a place to sleep there but we just couldn't find a quiet safe place. The people advice were also not very accurate, some people sending us right, then left, then right... You know what I mean ! So we decided to sleep in the bus terminal. It was quiet a bad night, we woke up often during the night because of Dog balking, or people making a lot of noises, etc...

Next morning, we decided to use another alternative. We thought that our Goal by doing this Luke 10 was to share about Jesus and our faith, but we didn't manage to find people interested, to who we could share our faith to, so we decided to use an amazing tool called couch-surfing... Couch surfing is a internet network of travelers that register on the website to tell other travelers that they are ready to welcome them at there house. So we contacted some of them living in the area from Corrientes and then we prayed that God might open that door, if it was his will, or that he would close the door if he didn't want it to happen.

"Men makes choices, but its the Lord that direct his path"

And God opened that door ! We were welcomed by an amazing man called Elias. He wasn't a Christian, but was really interested by our faith-journey and I believe that God has an amazing plan for his life. He opened his house to us, trusting us with everything it was incredible ! We explained him our situation and he even bought all the ingredients so that we could eat all together spaghetti Carbonara that we prepared !

Unfortunately, the next morning we had to leave again ! We had 2 day left, and around 300km before our final city in Paraguay ! So we left his house, and had the privilege of being picked up by a truck-driver that drove us for more that 100km ! Later on, he dropped us on the road just before a city called Formosa. We checked on the map and saw that there was an airport there... So we walked next to the highway, heading in the direction of the airport and expecting to sleep there...

But God had a different plan !!!!!

We were walking for 1km, when a car picked us up and offered us a lift. Once in the car, we explained them what we were doing and in 5 minutes, they decided to invite us to sleep at there house ! It was so unbelievable because in less than 20 min, we were from the side of the highway to someone's house ready to have a cup of coffee !

And God didn't stop his goodness there!!!! : This family also took us for a quick car drive through the city, and the next morning decided to drive us 90km and drop us directly at the border of Paraguay ! God was so good to us ! From there, we hitchhiked again, and 2 lady drove us 40km to the municipality of Asuncion. There, we joined again the rest of the team. We had a debrief session about that time and every story was really unique but what we can take out of it is that God is always faithful for providing for us, and his love and caring goes behind any human understanding !

May all the glory go back to him !

P.S. My heart by sharing this story is really to tell you that our God is an amazing God, that he provide for each and everyone of our needs ! It is by no means to glorify ourself, or tell "how cool we are" to do that kind of experience. None of this would have been possible from our own strength or knowledge. A Luke 10 is really an amazing tool to realize how full of love and care our God is, and realize how poor and fragile we are without our earthly securities !

So I just want to repeat my ending:

"May ALL the glory go back to him ! "
