Hey friends and family, you are now going to read my first blog.
All I can say is - what an amazing experience, even getting to masaai land was an adventure! 2 days with very diverse forms of travel - air, bus, taxi and a 4 hour bumpy 4x4 drive but it was all worth it.
The first 2 days we spent getting to know the land and meeting Maasai, what a wonderful, colourful culture and people group.
What a wonderful surprise and blessing when they gave us a lamb spitbraai the Sunday evening - it was like they knew what was lying ahead that coming week and we didn't.
The Monday we started on constructing the kitchen and completing the shed.
Wow! What an epic task and out of this world experience, to work aside the locals and probably the coolest team ever. We bonded amazingly in every way possible. Even during our solitude time we were divinely connected, the Lord building a sermon for the second Sunday morning - a sermon I had the privilege of sharing at the local church.
Our time ended with some goat potjie and fellowship around the fire.
We as a team didn't just go to Maasai land to construct a kitchen, experience local cuisine and see pretty mountains.
But to make friends, learn a new culture and experience the almighty God in a very different setting. We went to serve but we received a whole lot more than what we expected. Thank you Maasai land!
