Journey to the end of the earth

Journey to the end of the earth

"You will be spiritually awakened, Work Your Way, the time has come."

This was a prophesy given to Work Your Way in Sydney, we didn't expect accurate it would be! How God works His way in the most unexpected times, how it unfolds as He has predestined by working in hearts of those who love him.

The First ten days in Fiji was spent in a rural community called Labasa at a YWAM base surrounded by rustling sugarcane plantations, scattered palm trees that eventually had to be climbed and uncharted mountains that needed a hike or two! We set up camp and felt at home with the locals and students, where we got straight to work extending the base. Making due with what we had we used initiative and worked on extensions to the base to improve there living conditions.

We felt at home as we got to know the community that treated us as family, a Hindu family even invited all of us over for dinner even though the family needs to be fed by the income of their sugar plantation.  YWAM makes an effort to connect with them while they undergo training as many of the families attend the church meetings on Sunday, ove course on loudspeaker for all to hear just incase someone not attending in the community needs the message.

The locals say that Fijians originated from Africa, in that way the people somewhat reminded us of home. There are over 300 islands in Fiji. The Fijian culture is structured in priority of relationship and respect over materialism and independence as other places we experienced. The nabours and nabours-nabours would come over then be fed as they are extremely hospitable, in other words they would not stop feeding you.

The following week we stayed with a family that give everything for the ministry that God called them for, years ago. The amazing thing is that they have no income and are completely independant on the Lord to build their own church. This laid some Work Your Way guys to rest about their Luke 10 journey for a measly two weeks compared to their lifetime. They are living proof that Jesus is enough, to be obedient to Christ is all that matters where the rest would follow.

One morning Marton and Mornay took a step of obedience. They got baptized out of stirring of the Holy Spirit. Louw then asked afterward if anyone else feels they need to join the "water challenge". Johan and Robi where obedient and also got baptized. This was the day of great spiritual shift we waited for as the remainder of Fiji we where  encouraged by many Christians that have made it there business to know the Fathers business!

This scripture reflects what we now persue: Matthew 6:26,33
"[26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

We continue in dependance of God as the people we encountered live day to day, we where encouraged that we  dont need to worry. In a world that strives and teaches independence, we choose to differ!
