Bosnia - where the physical and emotional realms meet...

Bosnia - where the physical and emotional realms meet...
We are almost at the end of our time, and wow, it is the year in which I have definitely learnt the most. We just came from Bosnia I Herzegovina where we were blessed. We had an awesome time with the pastor there, Pastor Mladen, and for once we didn’t call him Ben. In Bosnia we had the opportunity of praying for the church, where we could proclaim Christ as King, and pray blessings over it. We felt in the first week that we ought to pray against generational curses, and the first teaching the church had that week was...

“ENGEL”land – literally meaning Angel land, which was England for me.

I was really touched by the people who lives in England. They have a different missionary field than we have, and they have a lot of other struggles. I have learned a lot from them the past few weeks that we have been there. We had the privilege of having fellowship with them in the evenings, and the best part was talking about scriptures, and just everyday life with Christ. They are solid men of God, really solid. Only good words come from their mouths, and they want to edify you rather than break you.   They asked us to...

That is what challenged me a lot the last few days in NZ. I always knew I had to spread the gospel (in South Africa), but the “opportunity” just never showed up at my doorstep. I was the average “Christian” boy, living from Sunday...

India – Whoeps whaps it is gone!

It all happened so fast, because it felt like yesterday where we arrived in this warm country. One moment we were still in an air-conditioned airplane, but the next we were outside in the heat. What lied ahead was something which everyone was a little bit afraid of. We went to the Himalayas for a week to do a VERITAS course, just to escape the heat and the noise of Delhi. We arrived there and had the best time there, and God really treated us a lot! We saw the top point of the majestic mountains and it was the...

Road rage: What is the big issue?

Road rage: What is the big issue?
While we have been travelling, I have noticed one thing about road rage. There is so little road rage in the last 3 countries that it is scary to think about the situation in SA. Let us compare shall we? China: There the driver with the biggest horn wins. They drive very reckless, but there are so little accidents that you can't believe that they keep on driving that way. There is also only one clinic available in the small towns, so they can't afford it to make accidents. Thus, they all stay calm during the times in which they...

Fear VS Faith – When in doubt, you can shout!!!

From the beginning of China I was expecting resistance. Resistance from the “public enemy nr1”. We were definitely stepping on his toes. And every one experienced their own kind of attacks that he attacked us with. From my perspective, it was really intense. img_1442.jpg

GREAT EXPECTATIONS – MORE THAN MET…

Great expectations are what we had at the beginning of the year for the whole year!

Right now I can say that it has already been met in just all the small things that God gives us!

I like to eat "pap" with my hands

Time to cook!Food in Zambia is the best!!!!! When we speak about food, or think about food, we say.....

We really like our traditional food alot! We love "boerewors en pap", or, "macaroni en kaas", or "braaivleis and coke",
but here we had to adapt to their eating styles and food.
We have "slap pap& quot; or oats in the morning, with coffee. In the afternoon we eat fish or kapentas or beans with mshema.
That really was a challenge at the beginning, but after a few weeks in Zambia we have adapted to their food and ways.

How to build a bridge: 101

Crossing the riverDate:  9 February 2008
Place:  Masaiti Farming Institute
Activity: No class, but that means .... (bridges)

Building or working or doing something that requires fit muscles...
We were all building a bridge today.
We started by loading rocks into the tracter and trailler, but I still believe we loaded "boulders" into the trailler, and not rocks.
We then got to the place, unloaded the rocks, and started building the bridge.
