"Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation", a small whisper and prompting that would change the course of my life. In the movie, Hobbits: The unexpected journey, Gandalf, one of the most powerful wizards, asks his friend Bilbo a hobbit, to go on an quest with him and a group of dwarves to reclaim the kingdom of Erebor. Bilbo would soon realise that this journey would not be at all what he expected, taking him on a treacherous and dangerous path, fighting orcs, giant spiders and even a dragon. Relating to Bilbo was easy when God started knocking on my heart, extending His invitation to go on a important quest to preach His Gospel to all of creation. In all honesty my entire being longed to stay in the Shire, where it is safe an comfortable, explaining to God, "I can't, I am just a hobbit". Little did I know that God is looking for hobbits, weak and vulnerable. Because when a hobbit is fighting a dragon, all glory must go to God.
With a little more encouragement from God: " Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid , do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go", this hobbit stepped out in the middle of the storm, walking on the sea following a whisper, a call from a Saviour he desperately wants to know even more. What would follow after stepping out is life altering revelations, being challenged to a point where you can only rely on God's strength, learning faith in the most unexpected but practical way imaginable all with amazing dwarves and Gandalf on my side. The Shire already feels worlds away...
