Blessing Upon Blessing
Egypt sounded like such a bad place to be in by the way the Israelites were slaves and Pharao with his hardened heart. But today it is a pritty nice place! :-)
There was a few high points and very few low points for me in Egypt. Firstly there was DAHAB!!
We visited Dahab for a week to give us some rest after the first part of the journey. In Dahab we enjoyed the eastern restaurants where we all were seated on the ground on comfy pillows and enjoyed Coconut milkshakes. We also went snorkeling at places like the Blue Hole and the beautiful reaves next to Dahab. This was my first snorkeling experience and I was breath-struck by the beauty of God's creation. Here is a few photos:
A restaurant at Dahab. Why do people sit at tables? This is so comfortable and social!
One important lesson I learned is that you should always check that your equipment fits before you go into the sea!
The blue hole was crowded by 12 o' clock but happily we were there early! What an experience!
And that was Dahab. After Dahab we went to mount Sinai. We climbed it and slept on top of it. The way up was very hard and the night was very cold but it was all worth it to know that we were on the mountain where God showed Himself to Moses! Here is a few pics:
Wessel on top of the mountain.
Me on top of mount Sinai and at the edge of the cliff!
A friendly friend we met on our way down.
After mount Sinai we went to Anafora. It is a Coptic retreat centre outside Cairo. We were warmly welcomed by Bishop Thomas and all the other servants. We stayed in a palace and received king's food 3 times a day. We worked very hard but we felt that the hard work did not measure up to all the blessing Anafora was for us, Spiritually and Physically. All thanks to God. Pics...:
A view from the 'eating castle' over our rooms.
Another castle/guest house that we cleaned from top to bottom inside. Very hard work!
A great friend we made (Morise) showing off a few tricks. He was a very passionate worker and always asked God's help
him if he was working on top of a roof or dangerous place.
A elephant Morise made out of junk. Happily it never rains in Anafora!
After this at the end of our time in Egypt we went to the Pyramids. It was very big but it was not as fulfilling as helpíng someone do work in a garden or spreading the gospel. I don't think I will again be able to view tourist destinations without feeling the urge to love my nearest in some way.
Very big!!!
a small step for man.....
Never thought that I would see this!
Egypt was great and it was a pity that we could not stay any longer. A big lesson I have learned in this time was to humble myself before God. To give
all my plans and desires in His hand. He knows what He is doing!
Thanx again for reading my blog. Thanks to all my supporters.
Thanks to God!
Please pray for :
-That God will learn us more about His love for us and how to love each other like in Rom 12
-That God's blessing will be upon Anafora.
-We will be entering Guatemala this week and we are going to work very hard and have classes until late at nights so please pray that God will give us strength.
-That God will lead us into ministering oppurtunities.
May God bless you! Good-bye
