At first sight we thought that we were back in South Africa. After all the the countries we've visited so far Portugal felt the most like home! The longer we stayed the more it became true. We were feeling more and more at home and after 10 days when we had to leave, it was very hard! The host parents we stayed with played a huge role in this.
Peter and me stayed stayed with Manuelle, Alda, their 2 daughters and two sons. They really treated us like family! We had great times playing with the 2 sons that was both in primary school. Although they beat us in football we showed them a thing or two with rugby! The house parents also took us for sight seeing and made our stay as enjoyable as possible.
We experienced all the struggles and difficulties in running a church and to get people to go to chucrh. We also experienced the joy of belonging to a chuch communion for almost 2
weeks. We helped with all kinds of different tasks in the church and were rewarded greatly in many ways. May God's blessing be on this church!
Portugal is very passionate about their football and this can be seen by all the children practising in the parks all day long. If only they was this passionate about God. Please pray for revival in Portugal. Portugal had a big influence in the history of the world and lets hope that it can also have a big part in Kingdom of God!
As always here is a few pictures:
Dawid (Our leader) preaching at the sunday morning service. We were so proud of him and this was not the only time in Portugal that we were astonished by the wisdom the Holy Spirit gave him to preach.
Me, Peter and Estelle acting out a bible story about Cain and Abel in the park. A lot of fun!!
A beautiful church we visited near Lisbon. It really looked like one of those buildings that you get in those mysterious adventure movie scenes.
A view from the top of the Obidos castle.
The beginning of a new challenge where we had to visit a lot of sights and complete challenges throughout Lisbon with a limited amount of money. The eat your way team was feeling so confident we started the challenge at McDonalds!!!
At the end we had to run like crazy!! Maybe visiting McDonalds and missing a train or two was not such a good idea? Hehe
Thank you for reading my blog. We enjoyed Portugal a lot and learned a lot. We hope that the work we have done was fruitfull and that the seed that
has been planted will grow.
We are currently in Guetemala, Panaechel and the last few days changed us all. There was revival in our group and all our relationships with God kicked into a new level! More in my next blog!
Be blessed!
