Incredible India

It is the 17th of April, I’m in India, its about 18h30 and more than 30 degrees…!

To recap since my last blog…

We were in Guatemala before we came to India.  Our journey was from Guatemala to Costa Rica to Spain to South Africa to Qatar to Malaysia then at last we arrived 6 days later in India.

Our first day in India was quite, uhm how can I put it?  We literally slept for 14 to 16 hours that day! We slept through the whole day!  I remember waking up while everyone was still asleep and I walked outside and it felt like I just stepped into a burning flame.  That was one of the things I needed to get use to.

We are busy building a water tank for the orphanage we are staying.  We dug for a few days and it has to be 3 by 3 meters and then 3 meters deep.  Lots of digging!! First we dug then we have to build a concrete wall and floor.  I’m getting good at this.

We had the privilege to go to a water park with the kids.  It was so fun, really, just seeing these kids going crazy in the water and every one of them just wants you to swim with them.  Like God says in Matthew 18: We should become as humble as little children, this was true when I saw how much these kids enjoyed the water park.   Then again God says in James 4:6”…God opposes the proud but favors the humble”

19/04/11-Indian Premier league… God blessed us to be able to watch a IPL cricket game.  I know God knew how much it would mean to me, and how much I would like it.  We watched the game of Deccan Chargers vs. Delhi Daredevils.  This was truly one of the best days of my life, just because I experienced God’s love in abundance that day, and that the cricket was intense.  At one stage we were dancing because one of the best players of Delhi Daredevils was caught, and we were probably the only guys in that whole stadium that was screaming and going crazy!  Everybody was for Delhi Daredevils because it was their home ground, but we were for Deccan Chargers because they are awesome duh!  At about 4 o’clock we were on the TV and then on again at 5 o’clock.  My Brother whom I really look up to sent me a message that he saw us on TV in South Africa, this really meant a lot to me! Miss you Phillip & Jana!  Wish you were there with me!

We also had the privilege to go to the Taj Mahal. It was an amazing experience.  It’s amazing to be there and see how much perfection can be in such a building!

I’m busy reading a book called Wild at Heart.  It’s an amazing book about discovering the secret of a man’s soul.  It really helped me through some things that I needed to deal with.
I came to India having this burning excitement of coming to a cricket country and now I have the opportunity to live with them and learn from them as much as I can!  I thought I came here to help them, (Yes we do) but then God just shows me that I am the one that is being helped and taught how to live with what you have.  India is about opening one’s eyes!  Personally that is why God sent me to India, it was to send me to India be able to see how poor people are and how they can still survive!

I want to ask you, the person whom is reading this that what would you do if you have nothing? No Parents, no money-NONE, no siblings, no one that you can go to if you are sad or happy, forget that nice shoes or your favorite T-shirt.  There is actually nothing you can do…  Now I want to ask another question, do you stand up at 5 o’clock every, every morning to praise God? Do you praise God then again at 3o’clock in the afternoon and then again at 5 o’clock?  These kids at the orphanage were I am so lucky to be at this moment in time, do that every day!  I know that I am counting myself in! I am actually mostly talking to myself because I know that I don’t, but I do know that I am growing into that.  God humbled me so much here in India.
