Blue TEam strikes again!: India edition

As of yesterday morning, blue team started yet another adventure. At breakfast, the greater southbound team was surprised with a challenge to get from Mousoorie to New Delhi. The tasks: near to impossible, The Purpose of getting back to Delhi: achievable only with God’s help (seeing as we were given $0 for the challenge). Regardless, we set out. We set out with Strength and with Honor and with Delhi in our future.

First it was off to accomplish the task of visiting a private school in the Mousoorie area. After climbing down, down, down we saw the school and then climbed Up, up, up, up. Yes! We were tired, but we saw the school and even signed the guestbook as proof we were there! When we returned to the place where our bags were being held, we met a man. But, this was not just any man, but a Seek that was willing to help us answer questions we needed to be answered in order to fulfill our tasks. After a round of 20 questions and Martha Stewart cooking lesson from his wife, we loaded up like a bunch of pack mules and started heading down the mountain!

After being unsuccessful at finding “the queen” to learn a Hindi song and joining up with the yellow team; we dropped our bags and started the search for McDonald’s and a clock tower. (Apparently Ronald hasn’t made it to that region of the country and someone has torn down the clock.) Unsuccessful, Yellow and Blue parted knowing they would see each other at the end of the road in Delhi.

Now the rubber hit the road. Hitching down the remainder of the mountain from one truck to another, we made it to the main town in the area which was a hub for traveling to Delhi from the region. On the way there, in the back of the truck, Betty recounted how one missionary had said that in her 20 years of ministry, she never has had to ask anyone for financial support. God has always provided everything she has needed! Later on, down the mountain, we were sitting at the train station with only two tickets that had been given to us and still in need of two. As we sat waiting and thanking God for the miracles and provisions of the day a Indian man of 19 walked up to us and just started talking to us. It was very random, we talked about his dreams of wanting to be a pilot, about Indian tradition, hobbies, but then we started talking about traveling and where we were going. So, we explained to him about the challenge! Before we knew it, he had offered to buy us 2 tickets for the trip! We were on our way to Delhi!!!!

On the 11 hour train ride, we met women that shared their dinner with us and even topped it off with a dessert! Through the night we made several friends even though none of them spoke very much English. When we woke up this morning, we arose to find we were getting close to Delhi! Quickly, we had to make a game plan so Gerhard asked a young girl that was near if she could help us. She ended up telling us hope to get exactly where we needed to go and blessing us with some money to get there as well!

Off the train, on the metro, a little hike with all of Delhi’s eyes watching us and we arrived at our final destination. Now, the finishing touches! As I am typing, the remainder of the Blue team is working together to make a sock puppet for the children’s ministry next week. Now all that is left is to get the clue from the manager at the hotel….:) we’ll let you know how it goes!!!!
