Little did they know that getting to Zambia was a race!
The first official race of Global Challenge X 2008!
Out of the four corners of South Africa students arrived at Alabanza, Pretoria and carried their luggage into their cabins with mixed emotions pumping in their veins.
Games, laughter and banana eating contests destroyed the walls of unfamiliarity and peace filled the hearts of the students. Within hours the unfamiliar became home.
The training started with a bang as the Holy Spirit confronted us with unresolved issues and sin we have been carrying for so long. God wanted us to start this year the right way; He started is by examining our hearts!
As the days continued the intense working of the Holy Spirit was turned up. The students were geared, challenge and advised in all areas of their walk with God. Hours were spent in prayer and intercession for the Nations. Through prayer God was preparing the way!
The teams were announced on Friday afternoon and Saturday they had an adventurous team building experience as the afternoon welcomed them with an "Alabanza Challenge". Teams were running in different directions, crawling through mud and completing tasks as in the quickest way possible. The mini challenge was celebrated with a "lekker braai!"
As the week came to an end students were finishing up on all their tasks. Back packs were re-packed; washing was hanging on the line and nerves brought sleeplessness as the BIG DAY arrived. The teams were ready to leave for Zambia. Little did they know that getting to Zambia was a race! The first official race of Global Challenge X 2008! The teams left Alabanza equipped, ready and excited to be the first team to arrive in Zambia.
