Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19
When I started my training at Global Challenge I was filled with excitement to travel and change the world for Jesus. Little did I know that I completely missed the point.
In the last few weeks of training I was very challenged about the way I spend time with Jesus and whether I am really listening to His voice. After pondering on this thought, I came to the conclusion that I was planning on going to the nations, without Jesus.
Like Jesus called the deciples to be fishers of men, we too are called to spread the good news to a world in need, but it is not a road we walk alone. It is not out of our own ability to preach or pray for people that we will influence their lives, but by the power of the Holy Spirit moving in and through us.
I realised that this year Jesus isn't going on a journey with me, I am going on a journey with Jesus. I desperately need Jesus. Without Him my efforts will be pointless. The key is to listen to His voice and follow what He wants to do instead of doing what I think is right.
So this year I am excited to go on a journey with Jesus into the nations and I am excited to see how He is going to reveal His heart and make me a fisher of men.
