Landing in London was a bit like coming home, the flood of memories, the excitement to see everyone and to hear all the news, the nothing to do while everyone else lives their lives and you're "on holiday."
I was super excited to see my all my friends again, the ‘are we there yet' excitement you have as a kid in the way to the sea.
And I wasn't disappointment. It was like I never left, the comfortable with each other and just being. It started me thinking... a lot through the year people prayed for me to just be with God, but really how do you just hang with God? Being who He is, and mostly who you're not, without taking away or disregarding any of His holiness, AND still having the fear of the Lord, really, how do you just be... with HIM?
It's an open-ended question, I still don't know the answer. Mostly I think it might be a learning process...
I also sort of suddenly had a lot of time on my hands. Time I had no idea what to do with. Time that was driving me insane.
By the end of the week I knew I had to do something, and started phoning charities, none of which needed volunteers, and some that didn't reply.
Finally, my cousin gave me a flyer of the Besom, a Christian charity connecting people with needs to people with something to give.
It was a really cool week, sorting clothes, playing with the toys (just to make sure that they're in tip top shape), and going out on the van to recipients and givers' houses. The people in the internship are SO nice and I just learned a lot from them about giving. Giving your (my) best. Giving my all... to God and my neighbour.
I think the trick will be to not forget, to put into practice what I've learned, not just in the situation I'm learning it in, but forever.
