Before Luke 10 started Rueben and I talked and prayed a lot. We knew anything can happen and we though we were ready for anything. God clearly showed us that we though wrong. What happened on our Luke 10 is something nobody would consider as possible options. Not because it cannot happen, just because nobody thinks of these things before hand. Never the less, it was somewhat fun and something that changed my outlook on people.
It took some time for us to move on from the gas station. We stayed there for a while. We had no idea where to go so we said we are going to go where the next lift takes us. North or South is doesn't matter. The next lift took us to the nearest bus station. It was pretty awesome. This town is surrounded by these few things, farmlands of fruit that they make oil from, hot springs, hills and valleys, rivers and mines. This is exactly what is describe in Deuteronomy 8:7-9 that we got at the beginning.
So we started to wonder the streets following the Spirit. We ended up at a T junction praying to God asking him where to go. The next moment a waiter from the restaurant across the street called us over. We knew it was from God and went to the man. We asked him if he knows where there is a place for us to sleep. We only had RM12 left. We got the money from the man that took us to the coast. Bedding for one night is RM30 at the cheapest. He called his boss, Mama, she said that we don't have to wary about a thing. She will give us food and then we can sleep at her place. We knew this was our man of peace. The Surprise was that she was in fact a man.
We sat down and talked about the place we are finding our self. We needed a Godly love. I had a problem judging people and pushing them away because of sin in there life. Rueben just gets freaked out about these things, his blog will tell more detail about his side. We prayed for love, love that covers a multitude of sin. Love that comes only from God. Love that will make us see the person and not the sin. Within an instant we received it. We decided to call our man of peace a she, because the person that we are working with was a she. He is a "girl" for over 30 years now. He really thinks he is a woman. So when I talk about her and she, it is the (wo)man I am talking about.
At first she didn't want us to help with the restaurant at all. We should just sit still and watch TV and eat. After the first day of Luke 10 we knew that, that was not a option. We started to help out by setting tables and lighting candles. The food stands around the restaurant wanted us to try there food, the restaurant next door also did the same. We had to eat something from almost every one. Mama only understands 50% of English so it made it had to get throw to her. The first 2 days she was open and we could talk a bit about Jesus and Mohamed, but she doesn't really care about God and what happens after death and the purpose of life.
It was fun to work at the restaurant. We took orders from people we don't understand. We just guessed what they were asking for. We hanged out with the people coming to eat there. We played Uno and finger sward fighting with the kids. Mama's child, who is adopted, was always there with us. I am 99.9% sure it is a boy but Mama calls him her daughter. When we got there he was playing on his phone the whole time and watching TV so intensive that I could eat his food out of his plate in front of him and he wouldn't know. We started to play with him and joke around with him. He liked it so much. The last few days he was almost never on the phone, we were asking him to relax because we couldn't keep up and want to talk to other people as well.
The best was when I hit him with a pillow threw the face. Her was a bit shocked but couldn't stop laughing. It was as if no one had ever hit him with a pillow. He grabbed a pillow and hit me back. It was so great to see the joy on his face.
One of the great things was that although she is in reality a man and she is smoking 4 packs of cigarets per day and even tries to sell prostitutes to us, we could spend time with her in public and had no worries about what people think. We didn't look at the sin we just had a Godly love that covered all of that.
On Sunday they took us to church where we could talk to the people and encourage them a little after the sermon. God gave us RM150 there. We were so tired that day. Haha we slept in the KFC because they had a nice air con. The reason for being so tired is, because we worked from 4pm - 2am then went to bed at 5am and then got up at 3pm. Church was 8:30am. On Monday Mama bought us bus tickets to KL. It was a short ride back home but is was in style. Business class with leg room that I had no idea what to do with all of it.
Rueben and I watched movies together in the restaurant and drove a motorbike around town for the fun of it. We did a couple of things that built our relationship. It was one of my best memories to hang out with him. It was great worshiping together and swimming in resorts. It truly was fun doing a Luke 10 with him.
God is Good and although he provides, that should not be our focus. Our focus is is God and His love for the world.
PS: we ate 5.2 meals per day on average. The record was 7 meals on one day, we skipped out on 2 meals, we just couldn't take it any more.
