Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt...
Last night we had a divine blessing - the witness of a Tsunami survivor. A friend that we're working with in Thailand shared his expereiences and terror of that day. 26th of December, 2004. the day of great terror and catastrophe was also his day of salvation. He gave his lif
e to Christ after the Tsunami. He shared every detail. How he heard the waves coming and was tossed and turned by the power of the waves. He survived by climbing onto a palm tree. He shared how he was saying goodbye to his family in his mind. He shared his prayer to God, that if God saved his family he will become a follower of Christ. He shared how his whole family survived. How God answered his prayer. How God loved him so much that he saved him and his family while thousands of others died. A love that big and compassion so deep that no human mind can ever comprehend it.
Casting Crowns wrote a song that we listened to after our friend shared his experience. It touched my heart to the very core. The name of the song is Who Am I.
Who am I
Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You're
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You
catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours
Who Am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours
I am Yours
Who are we that the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings loves us so much? What is man that He is mindful of us? Who are we that God will save us during a Tsunami? Who are we that we can call on God? That we can belong to God? That we can know Him? Not just know him, but have an intimate relationship with the King of the universe. He knows each of our names. He knows how many hair we have on our heads. He knows our thoughts before we even thought of them. He's the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, but still, we can call on Him to help us.
The one thing that amazes me everytime I think about it is: God is GOD. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! The King of the universe! And He wants to know us. He wants to love us. He wants us to love Him.
Who Am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me
I challenge you to get to know God. Kn
ow the tremendously powerful God. Know the gentle and loving God. Spend time in His Word and learn how much He loves you. Spend time in worshipping the one and true God. Develop an intimate relationship with Him. He can calm storms by just speaking and He can also calm every storm in your heart and your life. Just like a mother will hold her baby and speak words of comfort, God will help you through every storm. Get to know God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind. Before it's too late.
