God is all we long for.......

God is all we long for....

During the month of June we spent the majority of our time in Costa Rica and in Guatemala.  Because of the awesome climate, culture, landscape and people that exist in these regions it has become a huge tourist attraction point.   The Spirit sent us out one day to evangelise to the tourists in the streets of Panajachel – Guatemala.

Another team member and I decided to do a survey on the tourists and ask them a few questions concerning their travels.  We believed that this would help us understand way people travel and then find an open door to share the Good News. The survey included questions such as: Country of origin, purpose of travel, religion and whether they believe in eternal life. We spoke to about eighty different groups of tourists and although we heard a few interesting theories of what happens to people when they die and religions that I have never heard of, the conclusion was quite clear-

People either travel to explore the Creators creation or they are on a ´spiritual journey to discover their purpose on earth.

It broke my heart to witness these beautiful, enthusiastic, adventure-seeking, creation loving people being lost and looking and searching for something, which they admit being lacking in their lives, and trying to find and fill it with temporary pleasures such as drugs, sex and alcohol.

If you would compare the abovementioned situation to biblical truth, one can see that the only thing that we as humans long for is a relationship with God.

Isaiah 26:9

At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently.

Romans 8:15

For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"

God, the Creator of heaven and earth created each one of us with a spirit that constantly and continuously seeks Him and cries out ´Father´´. Our spirit longs to have a relationship with the Creator and Father.  If you don’t have a relationship with God, you will always look for something to fill that gap.  It can be through travelling, drugs, relationships, dreams to be rich and the list goes on. And the fact remains that only God can fill that gap and when you repent of your unrighteous ways and allow God to fill that gap, you will be content and lacking in nothing.

God is awesome and all that we will ever need.
