The Journey Starts - March 2012

The Journey Starts

On the 6th of March our journey to the hidden worlds of South America started. Our first destination for ministry was in Santiago (Chile).  It was a very interesting and exiting situation, because the cheapest way to get to Chile was to fly to Brazil and then travel to Paraguay over land and then fly from Asuncion (Paraguay) to Santiago.  Due to unexpected expenses end expensive travel costs in Brazil, the team budget was unable to support our travel costs from the Brazilian border to the airport in Paraguay.  We only had one option left – Hitchhike.

We hitch hiked through the whole Paraguay to Asuncion which is on the other side of the country and the Lords blessed us and supplied us with all our needs.  He sent people over our path that blessed us with lifts, food and free accommodation in the Botanical gardens.  We got in Chile on the 13th of March and were received by Pastor Andres of Agapé ministries.  We stayed with him for two weeks and in those two weeks we did a lot of street evangelism in Santiago city centre.  One of biggest challenges was the language barrier.  Very few people speak or understand English in Chile so the way we shared the gospel of the Kingdom was through dramas and skits which we performed on the streets.

The Lord also used us to encourage the local churches through serving, preaching and the giving of prophetic word when the churches gathered.  We also had the privilege to fellowship with the pastor and his family every night.  We prayed together, sang together, shared Word, ate together and shared our testimonies with each other.  He shared his amazing testimony of how God completely healed him from HIV and how God looks after them and carries them through their financial difficulties.

We as team experienced our stay in Chile as the Church spoken of in Acts and it inspired us as a team and we learned allot concerning the church and how the body functions.

On the 29th of March we left Chile and we are now on our way to Peru (via bus) where we will meet up with a South African missionary.  We will mainly support him by distributing bibles to the hidden tribes in the Andes Mountains.
