As a team we learnt a few dramas that we could perform to different audiences as we travel around. Erin and I ended up with the statue drama, where one person is seemingly dead like a statue and the person is doing their very best to play with them.I try to make jokes with her and play games but she doesnt respond. Dissappointed I pray about what to do, then get a bible to share Gods word with my statue friend and try to explain the gospel to her. Eventually giving up Ipray for her. After a while Erin comes alive and is so excited to see the truth and start playing.
It is really for small children but has such a powerful message. It shows how each of us really start off dead in our sins when we are without Jesus. But
through Jesus taking our sin upon himself on the cross we can truely be alive in Him. It is nothing that we can do ourselves but something that He has allready done.
The past three weeks in Peru we have had the opportunity to do the drama in many many different places! Churches, schools in Chiclayo, a university and small mountain schools in the Andes. God has really used it to impact alot of people but has also used it in my life. In doing the drama so much I have really come to understand more of Gods heart for peopel that dont know Him. People without Jesus really are spiritually dead and He wants them to start a relationahip with every peron, so that He can bless them so much more abundantly and use them in a way that gives them so much purpose and life. It makes me want to share the good news more and more, as well as encourage others to do the same.
So I encourge you to have a look a the video of us doing it for a group of university students in Chiclayo (not the most
appropriate audience but praise God for the opportunity!) and consider which friend you are. Are you stuck like a statue or living life abundantly? Either way stop and ask God what HE wants to say to you. Ask Jesus for the abundant life he promises or go out and tell someone about the abundant life he has given you!
