Simple, humble, precious

There’s something about standing next to a beautiful Masaai, with his stretched earlobes, listening to his deep voice, worshiping our great God... this is real, this is so authentic, to hear these people’s cry to God for their families, their villages, their land.

I loved being in Masaailand, the beautiful flat lands above the Rift Valley. Being among these precious people, learning to live the way they live: simple loving lives, where family and stopping in the street to chat to a friend or coming over for sweet tea is more important than any schedule or personal agenda. Here people appreciate and love life! Always smiling, always laughing. In our western eyes they might not “have much”, but they showed me they have everything they need. It was a time of learning and reevaluation for me, of appreciating sunsets, walking at a slower pace( okay so maybe that’s more a personality thing and I couldn’t help but walk fast- but it’s the thought that counts right?), a time of laughing at silly things, and really appreciating small things, a time when you forget your own mind and just listen to your Fathers heart and experience His love,a nd see it working daily in the lives of others around you.

It was so special, and such a good reminder to not take life so seriously and worry, 'coz God is in control anyway: Like when you hear the leopard outside your tent, or sick, or stranded in the middle of nowhere. In these times the verse about not worrying about tomorrow would go round and round in my head, when we were in a sand storm, listening to the Masaai sing, watching the stars at night, and an absolute assurance would come over me that no matter how much I worry, it wasn't going to change a thing, but turning to my Father would prepare me for it.

My prayer for you is that you know and experience this too, and for peace surpassing all understanding be what fills your tomorrows

All my love,

Jamie-Lee
