Elephants, waterfalls, hilltribe, outdoors! Nothing can compare to be in and experience God's amazing work in Thailand!! As we left Phuket and our twin team(the Red Team) we did not know what lay ahead of us as a team. We met our contact and a Global girl, Adette Bos as we landed in Chiang Mai. We came to a cosy house called "The Grey House" and we settled in very well. We explored alot of Chiang Mai during our stay.
The Elephant Park
Chiang Mai has not only beautiful skies, and wonderful people but also very talented elephants. They danced for us, played soccer AND basketball, and they painted a beautiful picture of a rose bush!! If you are not impressed by that then imagine riding an elephant....yes we rode the elephants, but not only a little land exploration but also a river!! After this we had an ox wagon ride which was very entertaining because Jarrad and I were behind a bunch of Asian girls who thought the ride was more of a roller coaster than anything else. To boost our egos they even asked us to take pictures with them, but that was just a small taste of what lay ahead of us because we had a HUGE lunch!!!! Oh I forgot to add we also got to go on a river but this time in a bamboo boat!
The Umbrella Village
Please do not be fulled in the name because what you read is only 50% in what you get! Because they do not just make umbrellas!!! Infact we had an amazing tour guide, who by the is a great friend of ours, who showed us the biggest umbrella in the world, which is as long as 7 meters. After taking pictured with umbrellas there were artists who were waiting to draw some pictures for us on our phone cases, camera cases ect.
The Wateralls!!!
When you read the title of this paragraph please do not think of a straight water fall but rather a waterfall you can climb up and down! With an amazing experience of climbing up and down the waterfall we had a very relaxed day of just being in God's wonderful works!
The Hilltribe
Ahhh, the hilltribe, what a wonderful experience!!! After sharing a bit with the church there we went to a coffee farm where they showed us how they made coffee, in this process I befriended a little boy called "Annan Kin Pead Jong" I am probably missing a name but we just called him Thai, he really made me think of the children in Kota and we played alot of games with him, we even played uno with this 8 year old WHO BEAT US! And his little friend whose name means waterfall played with us as well. We stayed in bamboo houses and ate A LOT of food!
The Work and the Ministry
After painting a primary school's bathroom we set out to meet the YWAM Team, after getting to know them we set off in 3 groups, one to hand out tracks, the other to hand advertisments about the english classes and lastly just to chill with the university pupils. After three days we had to say good bye to our American friends and head off to what else God had/has in store for us.
We saw God's beauty and miracle in this country and we can not wait to see what all the other countries have in store for us.
