A journey to never forget
After a few days in Varanasi we didn't have alot of ministry work to do but meeting some guys from a charismatic church in Mumbai who told us that prayer walking is a great weapon as well as praise and worship. With this news we broke up in teams of two.
Frikkie and I were a team and we started asking God to use us in whatever way He wanted to and that we were just empty vessels open only to the Holy Spirit, I got a picture of:
- Stairs
And he got 3 pictures:
- A monkey god
- A man with a monkey(who earlier that day we saw)
- And a red saree with gold trimmings.
We set off, I want to go as far away from where we were earlier because I wanted this to be fully God. We went the opposite direction of the man with the monkey and while praying I asked God "may this be effortless, because You are in control and for You this is effortless" after I prayed this there were dogs in the road that when we came near just scattered away from us.
Eventually we arrived to where we were in the morning "Assis Ghat" which is one of the bathing points for the Hindus. We had been walking for about 20 min and so we decided to take a rest on some stairs. We waited upon God for half an hour before a man approached us and asked if we wanted to buy some clothes, we thought it was from God so we followed and were praying for a chance to share the Truth with him, which never happened so we went back to the stairs, looking up we saw a monkey god, which was next to the man with the monkey, and we knew God wanted us there. But after waiting for half an hour we were just about to leave, when a drunken man was about 10metres away from us.
He was shouting something in Hindi and when I turned to look at him making a fool of himself a man behind me told me that he was drunk, after a minute I asked him what his occupation was and he said that he worked at the restraunt that was next to us but he never sits outside it but he felt that today he should, I told him about myself(which was the only time Christianity was mentioned, and then I began asking him about Hindiusm, out of the blue, about an hour of hearing different stories and asking him questions like "were there any gods that was ever alive?" and "what are the 'advantages' of serving certain gods?" he all of a sudden said to me that he wants to be a christian, and at that moment God said to me that when we come through for Him then He is even more willing to come through for us! Frikkie and I shared with him from the beginning because he knew absolutely nothing about the gospel, afterwards when we spilt up we made an appointment to come and teach him more about his, and your, Savior and Lord!
Praise God for He had orchestrated everything and in His perfect timing and will. God is there for us and longs to have an intimate relationship with Him. He truly is indescribable!!!
