We are now in Guatemala! We arrived late Friday night in Guatemala City and spent the night in a small hostel.
The next morning we began our trek to Santiago on Lake Atitlan. 3 chicken buses and a boat ride later, we arrived in our home for the next 3 nights. The pastor picked us up at the boat dock and soon we learned he spoke no English.
Shortly after that we found out that there was only one man in the church that knew a little English. At least we could communicate a little. While staying at this church we were to help them move rocks and clear land to build a new church building in a nearby town.
Unfortunately, I have had a cold so couldn´t help quite as much as I would like to in the rock moving process but the rest of the team did a great job! We also practiced up on our worship in español by attending a couple of the services at the church.
Today we said goodbye to the Pastor and church family and headed back across the lake to Panahachel. Here we will work the next couple days doing some house construction and working with youth of a local church.
I am hoping to one day go across the lake to San Pedro where I lived with Pastor Antonio and his family for 3 weeks on the World Race. It would be such a blessing to see them again. For this to work out I need to find a translator. Please pray I find someone to translate otherwise I´ll have to rely on the one year of spanish I took in college...not so bueno! Also please pray for my friend Kim...she caught the cold I had and is not feeling well right now!
At the end of this week we are off to Miami and then Portugal! Sorry I couldn´t get pictures up with this one but the computer is not letting me put them on. If I find a better one I´ll post some later. Ok that´s it....peace out.
