Operation Bible Drop

With boxes and boxes of hundreds of Spanish bibles being released to the masses in the space of 1 week, the question remains as to where to distribute them most effectively. And so it is here in Chiclayo, Peru that the word of God is literally being dropped into the hands of school children, youth, teachers, medical professionals and adult passerby’s. What an amazing mission!

Southbound has been privileged to be a part of operation bible drop and reach every school in the area with bibles and the Gospel message.  Working with a number of local pastors and a YWAM family from Argentina, we began the week by visiting 5 different schools on Monday, distributing hundreds of bibles. Tuesday we also visited a number of medical clinics, hospitals and high schools. Wednesday we were blessed to visit a local university twice and speak to different groups of students, through dramas (southbound & the YWAM team) and personal team members’ testimonies. We were also privileged to be let into a number of hospitals and pray for sick patients as we handed them their own copy of the Word. Thursday we made visits to a number of medical clinics and centers, kindergartens and primary schools, distributing another couple of hundred bibles.

When given the chance we have been able to present the Gospel through a drama and share a short message, but when time is of the optimum we are rushed in and out of each classroom and allowed 2 minutes max to share the Good news with the students and place a bible in their hands- the perfect amount of time for the truth to be spoken!

We have learnt some great lessons through this week already: Christ’s message is simple (we make it complicated through our explanations!); Christ came for one and all and therefore the Gospel message is available for everyone; there is nothing we can say or do without Christ working in a person’s hearts first for them to receive the message- they still have to choose to accept the Word being shared.

And that brings us to the present. With Christ on our side and in the name of Jesus, with His Spirit working through us we shall continue to drop bibles into the hands of school children, youth, professionals, adults and needy people in Chiclayo, Peru. Praise God for such a mission!!

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the Father…”- the Word of God brings life! (Duet 8:3, Matt 4;4)
