Waiting for our bus on the pavement in Beijing, Hattingh took out his guitar and we started to sing. Soon we were attracting a crowd with our singing. My eye caught a young guy to the right of the crowd – he looked shy and uncertain, his face puzzled.
He walked over to where I was sitting and positioned himself on the step next to me. I looked over to him, introduced myself and a short conversation followed. Lee didn’t move… he kept sitting for another two songs before I felt led to ask him the most important question of his life.
I asked: “Lee, Do you know God?” Lee responded with an uncertain yes, and he explained that he had an inner knowing of a higher power, but doesn’t believe in anything specific.
At that moment the Holy Spirit took over and with Ivan and Jones praying in the background I shared with him the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I was talking Lee’s eyes lit up and it was as if he was understanding every word! He then asked: “Teach me what to pray.” And there, on the pavement, with police in the background, Lee laid down his life for Christ.
Join me in prayer as we carry him in his new found faith!
“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb… crying out with a loud voice, saying, “ Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Revelations 7 verse 9-10 NKJV
