I arrived in Fiji with a big excitement.
It is an excitement placed in me very early this year when our journey started. The island vibe hits you the minute you leave the plane whith the local band welcomes you with a lively island tune.
We got on a two and a half hour drive to labasa. We joined the YWAM base there and we where welcomed with joy. We pitched our tents and settled in. The next day our work started, and we took on our Daly task with joy and fellowship with the students and staff of the base.
It was eminent that these people was more concerned about stories from back home and Rugby rather than our tasks at hand. Fellowship is the existence of all there relationships, neighbours and any family or friends they bring are welcome and there is always place for more.
I had to realize this and not just focus on the task ahead, but had to connect with the gays, give- and hear testimonies. It was great, to work in such a calm and slow environment and just connect.
But my Fiji experience is actually the way the people of Fiji lives. What I would call a shack they call home and they have a simple life with just the basics being enough. No flashy lifestyle and competitive buying of cars and possessions. They really except you the way you are, just you.
GOD thought me through this community that HE is enough and just him. I met people who quit their jobs out of obedience to GOD's call. And they are so aware of GOD's presence.
I have quit my job and sold stuff to come on this journey. Now I see very clearly that I will be ok, next year, all I have to do is believe and be obedient. What GOD wants above all sacrifice or good deeds is obedience.
LORD JESUS, please let me hear your voice more clearly and create a obedient hard and mind in me.
AMEN.
