Just before Nepal God gave me and Jade word: "expect the unexpected," and did He surprise us every day with the unexpected.
In Nepal Northbound divided into two groups : purple and turquoise. Arno, Willemien, Miga, Vanessa and Jade are in the purple team(our team)and this blog is about what we as small team experienced.
God sent us to a family that supports an orphanage with 15 boys. Due to a medical operation the host underwent, they could give as much of their attention to us, so we supported them instead. By supporting them God taught us how to bless people with kindness and care.
Our ministry had a few arms to it, all of which we enjoyed very much!
Our contact and her family planned a full program for us, but after the husband's operation things changed and we had a more chilled time in Nepal.
The different ministries was:
The host family:
We did not spend so much time with them because of the husbands operation but when we did spend time with them it was always blessed. With the the hosts we always had nice chats about there ministry, Jesus , what's going on in Nepal and many more things( we always had a good laugh with them to) I must say the husband was very hungry for conversation when he came out of the hospital.
Then we also spend some time playing with there sons , I played with blocks and even played hide and go seek. Haha that made me feel like a young boy again it was so fun. I can truly say that the host family made us feel at home in Nepal, and blessed us a lot more than we could have ever expected.
Boys orphanage:
At the orphanage we played a lot of board games, chess, table tennis, soccer and a few other running games. They took us to climb almost 500 stairs up against a hill for a little adventure. We held picnic at a lake where we saw the amazing nature of Nepal (God know that I love natur)and afterwards watched films while eating a lot of popcorn and drinking masala tea.
We cannot really compare the orphanage in India with the one in Nepal, but at both we enjoyed the children and God used us by us spending time with them. We spend such awesome time with the 15 brothers and I am blessed to say that I found 15 new brothers in Christ at the orphanage in Nepal.
Street ministry/ prayer walk
Our third ministry was street ministry.
In the mornings we went out into the streets of Nepal. God placed it on our hearts to really intercede for Kathmandu. So the Holy Spirit led us to where he wants us to go every morning and during that time we had amazing encounters with local people and also the spiritual warfare that is going on around us. God strengthened our unity through this. God also led us to a church where we met a pastor and had the amazing privilege to pray and encourage him but he also encouraged us a lot.
During the street ministry we met our fourth ministry... A man at a badminton court. He is a Hindu man and we had the opportunity to spend time at his house. God used us to listen to his story. Although we did not speak a lot, but I believe that He needed someone just to listen, and I feel honored to be able to give him the chance to speak and share.
We got the opportunity to pray at different temples in the area of Kathmandu. God taught us how to pray in times of darkness around us. It is really eye opening to realize how one can feel the darkness in places like that.
Sherpa church
We went to the the Sherpa church for one day and wow did this mean a lot to me. The Sherpa people group is people who comes from mountain villages and this church of them is in the city. We where privilege to serve at there church service and be part of there youth gathering. This was a very small church of about 30-40 people but it's amazing to experience how the spirit moves there. They worship with traditional instruments that I have never seen in my life.. So cool. We also sang songs like seek first the Kingdom of God ( we sang in Afrikaans and tried to sing in there language... Hehe)
As a team we did a drama, shared a short message and Jade shared a testimony. After the church service we went to there youth fellowship where we talked, prayed and worshiped with the youth. One of the things that struck me the most of the Sherpa people group was that they get a New Testament bible in there mother tongue for the first time this April, this made me think a lot about how privileged I am to have had a bible in my Mother tongue since I have been born.
Our twelve days in Nepal were very blessed.
God surprised us a lot with little things like tea at random places and big things like Him providing food for our whole stay in Nepal. He blessed us with grocery items worth more than what we ever could afford. Rice, pasta, meat, spaghetti, juice, chocolates, cookies and many more. All that our hearts desired when we walked through the supermarket.
Nepal is beautiful country and God spoiled us a lot, I just saw again that God can do anything and He is not bound to my or your circumstances. He is faithful and a intimate God. Have faith in Him and stand on His word and your live will never be the same again. God provides everything we need, and the more we seek Him the more we will see Him
Thank you for prayers and support. Please keep praying that I will hear Gods voice and seek His kingdom first. And more important pray for any and all people that does not know Jesus yet. God does not want one person to be lost forever. Jesus died for the whole world. :)
Jesus love from Laos
