A very good hallo from Yaounde, the capital city of “green” Cameroon!
It has been a shock to our system. Coming from the Sahel and the dry poor Niger to the green pastures of Cameroon. The saying “ the grass is not always greener on the other side” has become a fake not true saying... it is greener! thank you Jesus! After the dry hot weather we are having an awesome time and God is providing in many great ways. Thanks for all the prayer all over the world. We are seeing the fruits and the blessings of it.
Retanga Junction in Cape Town with the “Cobra” and Gold Reef City in Johannesburg with its “anaconda” is not a match to what our journey was like from the border of Nigeria to the 1st town we slept in Cameroon called Nkambe! It started with a canoe ride from the border of Nigeria to the border of Cameroon over “no mans land river”. What was interesting to hear is that they said that they have never seen “blanc/white” people before and think we might also be the 1st South Africans crossing that specific border post! Crazy!!! Thats what what you call “pioneering”!!!!!!!!!!!! From there the only transport available was an open Land Rover. The 250 km 6 hour drive should be easy, but read this. 13 passengers and luggage, bags and bags of maize meal, 30 x 50l drums of petrol/gazoil and many more things! We were holding on for dear life! There is no real road and the map does not even have a “track” listed for that area! Going over things and into things I never thought possible. At times we even had to climb off to push the “Landy” out of the mud, because it is rainy season its even more a risk to drive. Many times the words “All for the Gospel” went through my mind. I am thanking our Father for His protection and giving me the opportunity to be able to do this and the amazing experience with the best landscapes I've seen. It definitely a must to do and to tick off the list off things to do before 90!
I have heard this wonderful story and I thought I would like to share it with you. As you know our ministry mostly consists out off bible studies with the simple church planting idea and trying to implement and teach the people were we are going. Maybe this story will let you laugh but also encourage you to go out and to do discipling in this way.
If you had a large room and you had to put in a male and female elephant with enough food for 2 years and close the door, what will you see or get when you open the door? Maybe 3 or 4 elephants. If you had to take the same room and put 2 rabbits in it with enough food for 2 years, what will you see or get when you open the door? Hundreds and thousands off rabbits. The story behind this is that the church building is the elephant and it takes years off duplicating this. It also requires a lot off time and money to reproduce. Were as the rabbit story is the simple house church idea which cost no money and is easy to reproduce and to duplicate. This does not take away the role of the “big church” but it makes it easier for the pastors and the elders and gives the whole “body of Christ” the opportunity to reach out and make disciples and to take accountability and responsibility for others. This is also an easy way off seeing how others see and hears Gods word and how the “Spirit” leads them to say what is on there hearts. This is also a great way off using the spiritual gifts given by the Father to encourage the “church”.
I will end and hope to hear about your stories regarding “simple church planting”. There are many ways to start. Your family after dinner, during your lunch break at work, after your game of squash with your teammates etc. Invite those around you to join and give them the opportunity to share and to lead the study group.
God Bless you all. Lots off love Wayne! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
