The Hill of war

[ As I walk the dusty roads of Red Hill, visiting people in their new shacks, I get convinced that this mission was more than just His. It’s mine as well. This is what it’s all about.

And so I pray everyday, that I serve not just the people but Jesus. Jesus is in Red Hill, it’s His. ]

Jesus made it very clear what His mission on earth was. Early in Luke He says:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
(Luke 4:18-19)

As I walk the dusty roads of Red Hill, visiting people in their new shacks, I get convinced that this mission was more than just His. It’s mine as well. This is what it’s all about.

And so I pray everyday, that I serve not just the people but Jesus. Jesus is in Red Hill, it’s His.

There is one thing which propels us to fulfill His mission and to serve people: love.

The complete love of Jesus that lives in us.

Love is kind, love is patient, love is not rude, love thinks no evil, is not selfish. Hates iniquity and rejoices in truth.

Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things.

Love never fails.

Jesus’ love for Red Hill is so great it breaks my heart. Not only did He die on calvary. But He suffered on Red Hill.

It’s a hill
a hill of war
stretching to the core
of this hill
this hill of war, more
more he says, for

This hill of dread
covered in blood
painted in red
where life is shed

Hill of mud
and in it blood
where I ask,
 O where is God?

Is that O God a nod?
And so I take a shield
and will not yield
I stand in the field
on this hill of war
and get myself killed
  skin peeled
people reel
 the deal is sealed

Blood gushing
and it rushing
across the hill of dread

I am the bread
You’re closest friend

The Hill of war
broken at the core
and from it spill
a dove of love
our mother from above
