How did we get this far from God?

How did we get this far from God?

This morning was tough to get up because we only got to bed way past midnight.  Peter and Marita took us to the bar that they run and to show us some of the Phuket night life.  This was a true eye opener all of us.

At the bar we each enjoyed a sundae and watched Djokovic win his round match with ease.  We enjoyed chatting to Peter and Marita and could share about each others’ cultures and languages.  They are both wonderful people and love to enjoy good company.  I must say, our stay in Karon Beach was an awesome time thanks to their hospitality.

On the way back home however, you walk past all these bars with girls in very short dresses shouting and inviting you to join them.  Off course they are not your ordinary bar patrons, but prostitutes.  Some of them even chased one or two of our guys down the street.  It was funny to see, but very sad if you think about what is really going on.  A girl that was probably bought from her parents by a pimp to work in his bar and “serve” his customers is chasing after a man, literally, to sleep with him.  How drugged is she not, how desperate is she not to make some money and how scared must she not be of… who knows what kind of danger.  This is the shocking truth of Phuket’s night life.  The worst is that so many westerners travel these parts claiming to be Christians and then partaking in these sinful activities.  So sad.

Peter, Marita and the team.

This morning we left Peter and Marita’s  to go to Tobi on the northern part of the island.  Before we did this however, we felt to bless Tik, the lady that works and stays next to Peter’s.  She is a single mother of 2. Her husband left her and used her name to do business and then ran out of money.  The bank then declared her bankrupt for her husband’s crimes.  We blessed her financially and also prayed for her.  She seemed very overwhelmed by this and we got Marita to explain to her that we were blessing her and that we serve Jesus.  It is our prayer that she may come to know the Lord.

Tik joined us.

Peter got us a cheap taxi and it took us to Tobi’s place.  He lives here with his wife and two children.  As we arrived, he blessed us with a ice cold Coca Cola… what a privilege.  The rest of the day was spent getting to know them and catching up on emails.  Some of the guys took the children to go play cricket. The boy is called Ping Pong (10) and the girl Pang (12).  They are great!

Philip, Angelo and Ping ong with the Ngo fruit.

Lunch was a fruit from this part of the world called “ngo”, but tastes much like a litchi.  Very good.
We are now going to watch a teaching.  Hopefully we can learn what the God wants us to.
