It might be seen as negligent, irresponsible, bad luck, poor admin. We see it as God's divine intervention and an answer to the prayers of little warriors. We were informed that Margot's India visa had expired and she couldn't travel South with the rest of the team and Yellow decided to stick together and stay with our little Miss Prosch.
Saturday morning at 6am we waved goodbye to the rest of the team. If you picture 5 sad little faces as a bus pulls away you are wrong. We were half awake and still in bed as they said their goodbyes. Anthony remained in Delhi with us and was responsible for navigating us to the orphanage where we would be serving for the next two weeks. After an interesting riksha ride and Wesley's first hit single we arrived to a warm welcome and pleasant surprise.
Having been prepared to expect the absolute worst we were delighted with the two trees, electricity, water buckets and visitor's room with two fans! We also have our own bathroom and western toilet. God surely answers prayers daily! We prayed for cooler weather, manageable facilities, friendly leadership and the kids prayed for someone to come and play with them. Check, check, check and check!
Within hours God showed us how much He loves these little ones and dared us to love them in the same manner. Loving them proofed to be much easier than we expected! These kids have so much joy in them; you can't help but hug them and play with them, all the time hoping that their faith and joy would rub off. They are truly delightful human beings and it's nothing less than a privilege to be blessed enough to know them.
Through the fun and games we also tried to do something practical. Anthony suggested we sort the storerooms - He did this knowing he wouldn't be here when real work starts! Sorting storerooms might sound like an easy job... It involves sorting boxes full of
stationary - enough to give the whole of Africa art lessons, clothes - enough to dress thousands of children, killing rats - enough to feed a snake park, killing a black cobra, discovering toys and books that's been hidden away for years! Cleaning floors, washing walls, fixing shelves, inventing containers and all of this while entertaining 50 adorable, attention seeking little angels! In the mean time Margot travelled to and from home affairs and foreign affairs offices. These are apparently worse than any African municipal office known to us!
Sounds like a lot? It can be! And with India's heat - which is no myth, energy levels tend to run low. This drove us to prayer and again God was faithful! Delhi had uncharacteristic rainfall during our stay.
We also had the oppertunity to take the kids to a water park. Never would we forget the big smiles on the little faces while they splashed around in the water! It was surely the most heart warming experience we've had thus far! God is good. Praise the Lord and pray with us for these children. They're praying for you, the least you can do is return the favour!
Untill next time Yellow says: Keep the faith and please pray for our Indian kids!
