Yellow decided to make a run for it and headed up the mountain to the A-ma statue. Only with the grace of God did we survive that experience. After what felt like an hour’s running stairs up a mountain in blazing heat and no water we reached a board “A-ma statue 450m”. Absolutely CRAZY! If anyone ever doubted our dedication or winning spirit, doubt no more because we kept on going and made it to the top first!
From there we went into town to walk up the stairs to the Ruins of St Paul while holding hands and counting the stairs out loud. On lookers must have thought we were all totally CRAZY! We spent 45minute in the Macao Museum learning more about, among others, traditional Chinese professions.
Searching for the tombstone of Robert Morrison at the Morrison Chapel proofed to be more time consuming than we would have hoped. One would
think that such an important man in Chinese history would at least have a bigger tombstone – the fact that he hasn’t is quite CRAZY! This was followed by a well deserved and very rushed meal in Dumpling Town. They serve every kind of dumpling one could think of and they’re all CRAZY delicious.
We caught a bus to the A-ma temple and walked down the oldest street in Macao before climbing the stairs to figure out that the symbols on the rock means... To us it seemed CRAZY that so many people come to worship this rock daily!
The walk of 33 curves fooled us a bit! We took the world’s shortest cable car to the top, realising that we should’ve walked was quite the let down! We had to make up lost time so we ran down, ran back up and then down again. Again, CRAZY!!!
We ran up and down the street to find the Ricci Institute, when we did the lady gave us quite a bit of information; this Jana tried to turn into a 500 word
article, while Wesley played a game of ping pong. To save time he didn’t even take time to take his backpack off. He’s CRAZY!
We made it to the university first! But finishing first doesn’t mean winning. Our article was horrific (torn up pages, scratched out paragraphs – you can only imagine! My sincere apologies Tannie Gertina) From the 5 bonus points we only received 3, as we decided a finishing first is more important than tasting more Macanese food! After many Sulene had many sleepless nights and much deliberation, we ended in third place. Behind Orange and Red, who tied for first. We consider it all worth it – we’ll always have the memories of our CRAZY day in Macao!
