After a great weekend of intense preparation, we are finally on the Island of blue beaches and white sand where locals are still enslaved by Islam.
The first weekend was devoted to getting to know the Zanzibar and Islam context, getting to know one another, preparing ministry like a dance and puppet show and mainly making sure that everybody is spiritually ready for what is coming. I know that this team is handpicked by God and it is amazing how well we work together.
One theme started with the planning of this journey and continued to surface during the weekend: Luke 10. That seemed to be more of a warning than an instruction.
The travel started with "excitement", as I missed my flight and had to take a later flight via Nairobi to Dar Es Salaam. I got to see mount Kilimanjaro from the top!! Two team members' bags got lost on their flight.
By Tuesday morning we all arrived together at Zanzibar port and waswarming welcomed by the local church. We've worked together with them for this week.
We ministered in two churches and attended a local funeral in this week.Yesterday the team went prayer walking through Stone Town and had various devine appointments where they could share the gospel.
I went back to Bububu to visit our friends from the previous journey and was warmly welcomed. I still however need to find the men who became Christians in June.
The Lord is really good to us, in the mist of many miss communications regarding arrangements with locals. We got to stay in a fully furnished house for a big discount, however it still stretches our budget. He is using even just our presence to also change the local mindset towards white people. We have committed to prayer in the mornings during the first muslim prayer time, which is 04:30. It is incredible to see how much deeper we go every morning and how the spirit is moving in our prayers. A high light was our Praise and Worship session last night at 12:30 outside our house. We are really experiencing God's presence in our fellowship and ministry and are giving Him opportunities to surprise us with His work.
Individual team members are also growing greatly and the Lord is busy with personal healing in our lives.
This week will be hard work, but we are looking forward to it. I will leave the team on Tuesday night to return to South Africa and will post a number of small personal testimonies from the team.
Please pray for our continued safety, God's provision as we trust Him and His annointing on our ministry.
