Goeiemôre Suriname!

It feels out of place to be halfway across the world in South America and then be greeted in Dutch when you sit down for breakfast. Glimpses of Afrikaans catching your ear while the students of the bible school chat makes this almost feel like home. Suriname has less than 500 000 people and is mostly thick uninhabited jungle. The city of Paramaribo is where most of the action happens. We found ourselves 22.5 km down Marten Luther King Highway outside this capital at Hebron Zendelingen School. The school is a training base for missionaries who want to go out...

Brazil in retrospect

As I am writing this We are on a shuttle on our way to Bonfim which is on the border of Brazil and Guyana. We just got of the boat a few days ago and starting traveling towards Guyana. This is where we leave Brazil and all its diversity. As I look out the window it has the feel of deep Africa. Dry and open. A big contrast to the Amazon we experienced a week ago. That goes for the cities in Brazil as well. Diverse. So many cultures and different ways of doing things. It is a ever changing landscape...

15/03/2015 The kids in Kenya

Our first ministry point in Kenya was with Joy in her 3 layer house. Almost like her impressive cakes she bakes. Usually a house has floors but this one is special. It's layered against a little hill just off Forest line road in Ngong. We were privileged to help out at Harvest School. The amount of pupils...21. This means very personal attention from staff that really love what they do. Kids in Kenya are well behaved and educated. They greet you around every corner, always smile, and even let you take the occasional nap with them while listening to a...

05/03/2015 Jambo Dar Es Salaam

Our first trip as a group...destination...Dar Es Salaam. We arrived at 04:00 and opted for a snooze on the airport...which is actually a pretty cool roof with a bunch of merchants snuggled under it. We rolled out the sleeping bags and slept like babies at the back of an adventure shop thing. Our travel teams soon became pro at bargaining. So here we are in Legho Hotel in the heart of this bustling city filled with friendly people. We had supper on the roof with a panoramic view of the city. We officially are backpackers on a mission. It creates...

So with training done we are sent out into the nations....and then we waited...at the airport. Airports are were people come and go. It's a place of excitement, sadness, expectations and for some a new beginning. Like a new promise that has been patiently waiting to be discovered. And this is how we feel. A new adventure on the other side of that boarding gate. A journey that will change our lives forever through the people we will meet. It feels like we only arrived yesterday for training and now we are on our way again. God has spoken words...

Who knew?

Who knew?
Who knew that this would happen? God has intensely shaped every heart and used this time to cast vision, detox, and challenge every heart's desire that's not in line with His will. God calls a pure and holy bride to rise up and walk in His provision. We have been blessed in so many ways by God who just provides. This week we were helping out at GLA. God provided roughly R24000 in 5 days to help build this school. Our benchmark is R30000 and we know God will provide the rest. When God casts a vision Hen I'll complete...

The big shift

The big shift
it is in serving the people that you discover something about the heart of God. We are currently spending time in the local community meeting people and playing with kids in the streets.   The way we view community is limited to our environment. We compare what people have to what we have. It is like we deem our standard of living as the benchmark.  Our take on the world is limited to our own suffering. We lack perspective. Their is a world in need and we are blind to what the world really needs...hope. We all need it. Jesus...

Here we go!

Here we go!
With great expectations we started this journey. It was a time of being uncertain of what awaits us but being certain that God has called us. and that is exactly the point...God has called us. He still is. And those who answer this ever present call are the people who will see His glory unfold in the hidden world. Training has been an adventure in itself. We are discovering so much about ourselves and of God. Our ways of thinking has been moulded, challenged, and affirmed. It has been both challenging and edifying. This is church. A group of believers...
